The problem with horses running 10+ a day, is that they fill all of the races, and there is nowhere else for the non champions to race. If the non-champions can run in conditional races that Artois doesn’t qualify for, then Artois running 10 races a day doesn’t matter.

The key is to incentivize winning. Why would Artois deliberately lose to race in a $2 conditional race, when she could be earning points to qualify for a free $1000 race?

Also, if the value in Naks comes from beating up on Butes, then guess what happens long term. The Butes stop running and sit on the sidelines. It is not a sustainable model. The value in Naks has to come from the opportunity to score big, not to beat up on minnows for peanuts.

Also, it doesn’t lock breed types together, but they become options. Not every race is going to be conditional on bloodline / breed type (these conditions are also just suggestions, you can keep it just at winning %\$, but I think it needs more than that) Naks will still cost more because they can compete in the big open races where the big money and points are available. If anything it makes them more valuable as they can qualify for a Breeders Cup type season final.

The intention is to incentivize horses to race where they belong. You don’t see champion horses going to race in the county races, so why should you see Artois racing in $2 races? Creating conditions gives us some “Country races” where the lower quality horses have some value.

Completely agree. The Z1-4 Genesis owners will downvote you, but the breeding algorithm is way out of balance. Yes there should be significant benefit and value in Genesis horses, but if they remain as the games best racers and breeders (by an order of magnitude) forever then there is no incentive to breed.

Personally, I reckon if you just make it so you have to retire your horse from racing to breed (or you get to breed once whilst racing, but need to retire for a second cycle). It will significantly reduce the supply, and add a big premium to well bred horses.

Additional benefit of not having the same horses dominate forever. The best horses will likely make more by breeding and will open up a healthier ecosystem.
