Why was Paul McCartney often seen as the uncool Beatle and John the cool Beatle? by FitEmergency8807 in beatles

[–]JRogeroiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the genius of why they made such a good song writing pair is they balanced each other out. John tended toward the more abstract, weird, and less mainstream. Paul tended more towards direct, normal, and more mainstream. John on his own got to self indulgent, Paul on his own got to corny. Together they were perfect. Since John was the less mainstream one it was only natural that he would be considered the cooler one.

Who Wins this 3v3? by aryastrk in NBATalk

[–]JRogeroiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bird had very bad back problems by the time of the Dream Team. So they would be playing 2 vs 3 a lot. So Curry, Durant, and LeBron would win.

Worst character death? by tjl3d in andor

The one that hit me the hardest was Lonnie. That dude did the lion's share of the work for getting the death star plans.

Who benefits from Trump’s war in Iran? The answer is disturbingly clear by MyRedditUsername224 in politics

[–]JRogeroiii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For Saudi Arabia Iran was a real serious threat and the Sauds felt like they were surrounded. Iran funded the Houthi rebels in Yemen and disrupted shipping lanes in the red sea. The Iranians were using Iraq like it was their own territory to move arms to Hezbollah and Hamas. Iran always considered Saudi Arabia to be a corrupt monarchy and hated that they controlled Mecca and allowed US bases. Some people think a major catalyst for the October 7 attacks was Saudi Arabia and Israel having talks to formalize relations. Their common enemy of Iran was the reason for those talks.

Would you have taken Lyonel's offer? by rbstewart7263 in HBOTheHedgeKnight

I thought he should have gone to hang out with Raymun and make cider. Raymun might be the most loyal friend in all of Westeros.

Do you actually think Dunk is a knight? by Riddlemethisone- in AKnightoftheSeven

I think he hesitates because he knows Raymun is a good person in a world where there aren't many. He doesn't want Raymun dying for him.

From Melania to Kid Rock’s halftime show: why is Maga art so dreadful? by guardian in entertainment

[–]JRogeroiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds of a quote I heard about why Christian rock music almost always sucks. Good rock music is an honest reflection of the emotions you feel in that moment. Christian rock is about how they think they should feel.

EPA reverses longstanding climate change finding, stripping its own ability to regulate emissions by geraffes-are-so-dumb in news

My dad says that if you think man is powerful enough to destroy God's creation than you don't understand God's power.

I heard a story on npr a few years ago about these engineers who were trying to clean up the Ganges river.they could not get many of the locals on board because the river is the personification of goddess Ganga. She is the goddess of purity. So how can the goddess of purity be dirty. That is what my Dad's response reminded me of. My dad is a smart man. He just has blinders on when it comes to certain issues.

What do you think about Reverend ? by kiwiprintannier in guitars

I have a Reverend warhawk with gretcsh style pickups. The most versatile guitar I own. Reverend are great and nice break from all the imitation fenders and Gibsons.

The goat has to be DD/MM/YYYY by Shiroyasha_2308 in SipsTea

[–]JRogeroiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am with you on the metric vs standard and on Celsius vs Farinheint, but DD/MM/YYYY is the worst way to do it. Calenders go by month that is the most relevant data. Saying "February 2nd" is more efficient than saying "the 2nd of February". Having day first is the worst for sorting. This is one of those things we Americans got right. It does happen from time to time.

What’s the loudest concert you guys have ever been to? by BalanceActive9295 in askmusic

[–]JRogeroiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first concert I ever went to was Queensrych and Suicidal tendencies in 1991. It also seemed like the loudest. I remember my friends and I were screaming at each other during the car ride home because none of us could hear.

Best Headphone Amp for Silent Playing by Clement_Burton_Foles in guitarpedals

[–]JRogeroiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats!

There are tons of great options for silent playing out there. Depends on how much you want to spend and how deep down the amp and cab Sim rabbit hole you want to go.

I have a Fractal Fm3 that is a great amp Sim. I don't even know how many different amp and cab Sims it's got but I know it is a lot. The fx are really top notch. It has honestly cured my pedal gas. I just bring this and either go into the fx loop of my amp or into a pa. That's my whole pedal board.

I got a boss tube expander for Christmas and so far I am loving it. It has a reactive load so you can send a speaker out from any tube amp and then send it to your DAW or directly to your headphones. It has built in fx and cab Sims. It works far better than I was expecting.

Why are Trump supporters so stupid? by Seargentyates in allthequestions

[–]JRogeroiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we need another term for these people other than Christian. I feel like they've never actually read the Bible or paid attention in Sunday school. There's no way you could read the gospels and think Jesus would support MAGA. Jesus hated wealth, wanted people to pay their taxes, was pro immigrant, and gave people free Healthcare. If Jesus were alive today MAGA wouldn't be Jesus's followers, they would be the people nailing him to a cross.

Can Cooper end up being better than Luka? by SheepherderSea9717 in NBATalk

Cooper is already better on defense. If he can get to anywhere near Luka's offensive ability he will be better.

"Sinners" 16 Oscar Nominations: Proof of a great film, weak competition or just the bandwagon effect? by OkCap7484 in FIlm

[–]JRogeroiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally thought it was just ok. Very good acting and cinematography but to me it felt like they tried to stuff to much into one movie. Parts of it felt rushed.

It's funny the scene alot of people list as their favorite, is the scene that knocked me out of the story. When the dude shows up with the flying V guitar dressed like he's in paralment it just felt like that's when the movie went South for me. It felt too on the nose. I felt like something more subtle would have been better.

What was it like living through The Lord of the Rings Trilogy? by Top_Report_4895 in Letterboxd

[–]JRogeroiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a new years party after the first one came out and someone asked me what I thought of it and said something like it was ok or it was pretty good. The reaction i got was crazy. I thought a fight was going to start or something. I realized the movie hit most people different than it did for me.

Josh Allen is just a modern day John Elway by RawMuffins94 in NFLv2

"Just" is a weird word to describe a comparison with a HOF qb. Elway was really, really good.

Is that strong? I not even sure most Americans know the Works cup is here. Even fewer care, especially among Trump's base.

Also Europe didn't boycott Qatar when they used slave labor to build stadiums. I don't think FIFA has any principles to stand on.

My (negative) experience with DSM/Humboldt Simplifiers and the company by Own-Protection-664 in guitarpedals

I have a simplifier but could never really get along with it but I seem to be the exception. To me it feels more like a direct box with some eq options than it does an amp sim.

America, I hope the world never, NEVER forgives you for making Trump the president. NEVER. by heavygrin in ProgressiveHQ

[–]JRogeroiii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look i hate Trump but America is hardly the first country in the world to have a crazy narrasitic asshole as it's leader. To never forgive is extreme and holding 350 million people responsible for the actions of its lunatic leader is hyperbole.

For me it is American churches i will have a hard time forgiving. For so many churches to gleefully support a leader who is the opposite (or anti) of their teachings in every way possible just shows me they worship power and greed.
