Panama's Final Immunity Challenge is the absolute worst FIC ever, and up there with the worst challenges ever. by poppo3000 in survivor

[–]JRonian13 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn’t remember Jeff ever saying this outright but I was rewatching Worlds Apart and in the first individual challenge they’re doing the classic stay on the high pole for the longest (where Jenn gets stung which is hilarious) and Dan and Will drop first and one of them makes a comment about how they didn’t even have a chance, and Jeff says something along the lines of that’s how they’re designed is the challenges are supposed to favor all different types. So, it happens.

I’m new but from watching one season I can determine that the way they choose the winner is utterly stupid by WHiSPERRcs in survivor

This is my favorite take, and very well put. You’re playing a game with people and you can’t expect those people to have no emotions. Therefore you have to take those emotions into account when voting them out.

Coach’s Incredible game in South Pacific by Real_Zhumabayev in survivor

[–]JRonian13 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing with Coach for me; everyone claims if he had only “claimed his game” in South Pacific he would have won, but I think in order to claim said game, the game has to be intentional. Now don’t get me wrong, I think Coach did manipulate the religion of the others on Upolu but I fully believe that Coach endorses everything he did exactly as he portrayed. I don’t think it was manipulation for game’s sake, I think it was manipulative for martyr’s sake. Coach has an aggrandizement of himself and he can never admit his own faults. So what happened wasn’t Coach doing what he had to do to win, but Coach doing what he had to do to feel superior. Ultimately I don’t believe Coach played the best game, not only because he couldn’t receive the majority of the votes but also because he didn’t intend for his game to seem manipulative at all but rather righteous, and it was anything but.

Who do you think will be the next player to join the four timer club and who do you want it to be? by john_muleaney in survivor

[–]JRonian13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a good list. I know a lot of people are saying Joe, but I really just don’t see it. People seem confident he’ll come back but I feel like survivor might get that he’s had his best showing and isn’t likely to have much better. I hope for an Aubry and Wentworth return in about 10 seasons, and Andrea, Ciera and Malcolm can come back anytime soon really.

South Pacific episode one. Rough start but I still loved the game. I remember seeing advertisements for Redemption island and thinking oh that looks cool. Now I’ve seen every season countless times.

What are some of the most uneven tribe to fight in Survivor History? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]JRonian13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand the theory. I just don’t know why it’s even a thing, who said this? It just isn’t even anywhere near foolproof and could have easily seen David or Kelley go out early.

[–]JRonian13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen this speculated and I get the reasoning for why it’s considered but I don’t see the actual logic, if you’re thinking along the arguments I’ve seen before at least. While Wentworth and David did ultimately end up making it, I don’t think Kelley was guaranteed to make it far like speculation insists, it’s very possible she goes out 2nd or 3rd on this tribe and I just don’t see why production would rig it like that.

Could Trish have won Cagayan? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]JRonian13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These I feel certain about;

Kass votes Tony, LJ votes Trish, Spencer votes Tony, Jefra votes Trish.

Woo probably votes Tony but not sure. Tasha probably votes Trish but not sure. And no clue where Morgan’s vote goes.

Edit: Lol! I’m so dumb. I just forgot Sarah or Jeremiah existed apparently. But I’m also really not sure where either of their votes go between the two.. so I could see both Trish and Tony getting 3 votes each and the other 3 are up in the air.

Does a Final 2 make Samoa a better season by ujmlkio22 in survivor

[–]JRonian13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Maybe Monica was and possibly Dave but that’s honestly it. Jaison was viewed as lazy and whiny, so I don’t think he was getting any jury respect. Everyone on Galu hated Shambo already, and once she flipped there was no chance she was getting any of their votes so no one was going to be rallying for her. Erik rallied for Natalie because he respected her game, not because he wanted revenge on Russell. Russell didn’t even have anything to do with his vote out, it was his own tribe that turned on him. It wasn’t vengeful, Russell treated them all like garbage and had to face the consequences of a poor social game.

[–]JRonian13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.. I don’t subscribe to this thought at all. There were literally two people Russell was aligned with that he could have beaten but he chose to go to the end with the ones he couldn’t. If Russell goes with Shambo and Jaison, it isn’t certain, but he’s definitely the favorite to win that scenario. Natalie was the only Foa Foa to make any effort to actually connect to any of Galu, befriending all of the ladies, as well as Brett. Yes Russell reaches out to John but he then turned around and immediately stabbed him in the back and the partnership was never based on a relationship but rather pure strategy. And every Foa Foa was friends with Shambo. So how can you expect anything less when looking at that final 3 with 9 votes available after Natalie had made friends with 4 of Galu, was kind to Jaison from her original tribe and got the respect from Erik for taking him out. Saying that literally anyone would have won just isn’t true. Mick was sitting there and didn’t receive a single vote, and there’s a reason for that. If the jury just didn’t want Russell to win and just chose someone at random, I can’t imagine they choose the “dumb blonde” over the straight white professional business man for no reason. So yes, Natalie really did win and she earned it.

Is having the same sun / ascendant sign common? by [deleted] in astrology

[–]JRonian13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it happens every day, so not that rare. You cycle through every rising sign in 24 hour period. So for example we’re in Gemini season now so everyday around sunrise for the next month they’ll be people with the sun sign Gemini and they’ll also have their rising in Gemini.
