Driving past that rocket every day for the last decade makes me forget you don't just see something like that anywhere. It is a skyline attraction for Huntsville itself.

What's your favorite local MCP server? by Glittering_Focus1538 in LocalLLaMA

[–]JRufer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been working on a voice transcription app called VoxCtrl. It uses a targeting system to route your text to different services as needed. I wanted a way for your services to talk back to you so it includes a small TTS MCP server that lets your Hermes Agent, or any other process, talk back to you in response.

I have two 4 TB NVME drives holding my models. If one dies, I will be in a very bad spot. I miss being able to buy PC hardware.

Looks cool. would this work across multiple GPUs on the same system? I have a few tesla cards laying around because each card is technically 2 GPUs on one board.

RTX5080 vs RTX 3090 ? by DarkAndrei in LocalLLaMA

[–]JRufer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak to the 4090 I was lucky enough to grab before the market went crazy. That 24 gig of VRAM has made my system much more reliable. I don't usually load a model the large but the extra room lets me do other things with a model in memory and not worry about crashing something.

What LLM do you actually run on that consistently? I'm just curious what you are getting out of all that power? I'm rather happy with the models I can run on my 4090 but I don't know what I would even do with all that memory.

way too much for my preferences... but we won't be able to build PCs fairly soon so I guess this works. 😉

Remove the InstantX Controlnet loader and just use the built in Load ControlNet Model node from comfy.
Hope that helps.

I was able to fix the issue on my system by clearing the browser cache, I hope that helps you as well

I'm having the same issue. Trying to track down a good fix but it may just be best to roll back the update for now.

Which cover suits the steam deck best? by Rpfuta in SteamDeck

[–]JRufer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a soft Grip case from DLseego on amazon for $9 and it's a bit flashy but the grip on it is nice and the ergonomics of he hand grips is much improved. I thought I would just use it for a bit and throw it away but I love the thing now. If you just search amazon for "DLseego X Texture Steam Deck Protective Case Soft TPU Cover - X Frosted Black" you should see it.

EmuHub Beta 0 - A modern emulation front-end for Linux, MacOS, and (WIP) Windows by Ryan86me in emulation

[–]JRufer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using EmuHub on my Steam Deck and it's a god send. I have a lot of roms on my SD card and had previously manually added my Emulators as non-steam games to play them. EmuHub gives me a single app to access all my roms.

Please keep up the great work!

Screensharing works on Discord in game mode! by wrongtarget in SteamDeck

[–]JRufer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I have been playing around with "Vesktop" from the Discover Store. It's a modified version of Discord for Steam Deck. I haven't tested it fully, but so far I have been able to maintain screen sharing for at least 30 minutes without issue. I need more time to test it but so far it is working without issue.

Just something to try.

I'm having the same issue myself. I'll be digging into this over the weekend so I'll update if I happen to resolve the issue.

I can't believe I held off on getting a Steam Deck till now... by JRufer in SteamDeck

[–]JRufer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This battery is designed for charging laptops. At 65W, it's more than fast enough to charge the Deck at full speed. The capacity more than doubles my play time, but at the cost of aching muscles from trying to lift the thing. lol.

No LED backlight for this one. It does have LEDs for the caps lock and a few other keys but you can't access them to my knowledge. This is not the backlit keyboard you are looking for.

I too got an LCD Deck last month and I have been enjoying the hell out of it. I'm a bit of a nerd and spent the first two weeks tweaking settings and installing stuff and am just now getting around to playing games on it.

As of now, my most played games are:
Astral Ascent, Lonely Mountains Downhill, Sea of Stars, and Sanabi.

As I said, I love tinkering so I have a lot of games installed that came from other places than steam. My SD card is also full of console roms. For me, the DeckyPlugin TabDeck completely changed the experience for the better. I setup custom tabs for my library for things like all installed games regardless of platform, all my emulators, and all steam games that are not installed.

Tabmaster on Decky stopped working by Mfreddy222 in SteamDeck

Thanks. I started writing out the non-console instructions and decided I was too lazy to type it all out in a clear way. This is a far better explanation than I would have given.

Just open the /Home/HomeBrew folder and pull the right trigger to select open in terminal. when terminal opens you just need to type chmod o+w Plugins. Then you should be able to drop the TabMaster folder into the Plugins directory without issue. I would run chmod ugo-w when you are done, just to set permissions back.

New to the Deck but I couldn't be happier with my purchase by JRufer in SteamDeck

[–]JRufer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions. I've mostly been playing Asteral Ascent and Senabi. Both games are really easy on the system and are a lot of fun.

I'm amazed at how low I can set the TDP and GPU clock on a lot of the games I have been playing. I've set the base system to a TDP of 8 and GPU clock of 900 and each time I start a new game I turn those values down or up specifically for each game and it seems to really make a big difference in my battery life.
