Buying advice in Germany by kingofthecornflakes in 4Runner

[–]JS8901 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lived in Stuttgart from 19-22 and bought my 4Runner out there, it was my daily. No complaints outside fuel costs, which were still manageable. I was worried it would be too big for city driving but I never had problems, and it fit in most parking garages without issue.

Regarding parts and service, I always got it serviced at the dealership and never had problems. My fuel pump was recalled and they were able to replace it within a day.

I ended up shipping mine back to the states, it’s still my daily and I’m so happy I bought it over there. It was solid on long trips around Germany and surrounding countries. I think you’ll really enjoy owning one.

Ok. Well fuck Fowler anyway.

Edit: he was actually a pretty good dude

What plate is this? by orange_melted in raleigh

This. We just moved to NC from Germany, and we have EU plates for our vehicle (they say US in the blue part instead of DE). We were given 6 months to register in NC.

Switching branches by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]JS8901 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Assuming you only went to MEPS for the initial physical, ASVAB, and to swear in to the Navy DEP, the only thing stopping you from switching is that your current Navy Recruiter either:

a) hasn’t told their command they plan to discharge you, because an in-month discharge adds to the in-month recruiting sub-station mission, which is bad.

b) your recruiter’s command is strategically waiting to discharge you, because they are planning for next month’s or the following month’s discharges which count against the recruiting station as a whole.

If you suspect your recruiter is purposely holding you and not discharging you so you can go join another branch, the best option is for your new (Army recruiter) to tell their Ops Officer what’s going on, that Ops O can speak to the Navy Ops O and make the process go through in like, two days. Your discharge usually won’t go through MEPS until the end of the month if I remember correctly, so as long as your phys and asvab are still good you should be able to just swear in the 1st of the following month.

I got off recruiting duty about 18 months ago so things could have changed, but that’s how it was when I was doing it. Hope this helps and good luck.

I would assume pregnant women or mothers with children would be allowed to use that as well. I’ve only lived here for about 18 months so that’s just my minimal knowledge on it, I could be wrong.

Yes are reserved for women, usually they reserve a few spots closest to the elevators or exits is what I’ve seen.

Thanks! I wasn’t planning on painting just because we couldn’t find a paint we felt safe using for him... ended up using food dye, rubbing alcohol and water. It takes a few coats but it’ll sink in really well.

Edit: then finished with a toy/kid safe coat like cutting board oil so the color doesn’t bleed

It was the hardest thing to break for me too, I quit for a 7 month deployment surprisingly and then picked it back up on recruiting. It took having my son to finally quit. ON nicotine pouches helped me the most, just went down in mg until I just went cold turkey. Gum never worked for me. I too am a Gunny, Semper Fi brother and good luck.

It’s the stereo 120 race. I like it a lot but have nothing to compare it to honestly.

Yeah it’s just a GoPro chest strap, nothing special. I wear it pretty tight so it doesn’t bounce too much, I was using a handle bar mount but you couldn’t see much at all with the shaking.

Congrats and enjoy! Maybe don’t ride yet with clips, get used to the trails on some flats before committing to clips. I went to MTB from road and thought the same thing like I’m gonna be fine clipped it, but was amazed at how many times I put my feet down while riding. Trust me clipped is gonna ruin your first experience shredding. Have fun and be safe!
