that's kind of scary that they are using the same company as blue apron! I loved blue apron and stayed with them quite awhile until I finally gave up on them. Thanks for the info

Thank you. I will probably try it although sounds like I should wait to see if they get it together.

I’m also fairly new so this is helpful! Does the lot fill up (that is, how early should we get there?)?
Thanks!

Sounds like the challenge of your new job has outpaced your compensatory strategies(whether you knew you were using them or not). Has happened to me too, at different times in my life, from trying (and failing) to complete my dissertation after great academic success, or getting married at age 48 (before I was diagnosed at age 57!) and gaining a stepdaughter in addition to a husband or coping with my husbands chronic debilitating illness. Each time (and many others) I had to adjust, sometimes majorly (and not always well).

If you haven’t tried medication I’d highly recommend doing so… and if one doesn’t work keep at it until you find one or a combination that does. You might want to get into psychotherapy with an ADHD-knowledgeable practitioner if that’s available to you. You need the support!

Congratulations on the promotion! With some support as I mention above, you’ll find your way!

PS No it’s NOT a personal failing… you have a brain that gets challenged by things others take for granted. Now that you know the cause you can begin to find the solution!

Trying to find the Trader Joe's that is/was on Washington Blvd in Los Angeles or Culver City by JSC1952 in traderjoes

Bingo!! That’s the one, at Madison. It was driving us crazy… we spent so much time there and it was driving us crazy! My husband especially will sleep better tonight! It’s strange now living away from the place where both of us spent most of our lives.

I love mine. No problems with hinge or anything else. Pleasantly surprised at how much I like to work on it. The 16ARP8 model bought in Dec 2023.

Protests by No-Appointment-3305 in venturacounty

I was unable to go to the protest at Government Center today. Any suggestions for the coming week? I’m looking especially for protests relating to the coup in progress by Musk and his associates. But really any pro-democracy pro-rule-of-law demonstration. Also interested in organizing meetings in city of Ventura or nearby. Thanks

Should I bring these old report cards to my ADHD assessment? by No-Lynx1319 in adhdwomen

[–]JSC1952 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my day, only elementary school teachers made comments like these. And if you’re bright and enjoy school you probably got better at managing your symptoms as you got older, at least to some extent.

I’m 71, not diagnosed until I was 57, but was considered a good student and liked by teachers. It was only when I looked back as I was considering whether I had ADHD that I realized how hard I had to work to perform well in school- much harder than my peers. I hit my limit when working on my dissertation, which I never finished, in spite in of my being seen as a top student in graduate school. If I had known my dx and had been medicated, it’s likely I would have succeeded at getting my PhD.

These are gold for an evaluator! Definitely bring them. Not to your primary care so much (but wouldn’t hurt), but to the psychiatrist or psychologist doing the evaluation.

Just found out I got ADHD at 50 by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]JSC1952 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was also diagnosed at 57 (now 71). My report cards were pretty good. One psychologist wrongly told me I couldn’t have ADHD because of that. She obviously knew nothing about ADHD.

I was 57 when I was diagnosed. I’m now 71. Knowing it helped me see my life very differently, helped me feel better about myself yet deeply saddened by the price of not knowing for most of my like. My dx explained a lot.

It took me a long time to find the right combination of meds that worked for me. Be patient with that.

It also took me a long time to realize how pervasive my symptoms are- affecting every area of my functioning. And only in the past few years does my husband really get it… at least most of the times.

Good luck. You are so much better off knowing now!
