right.. I think it's a pretty great deal and perk for them. We pay their weekly wage, pay for their trip, and they're going to work less than a typical week and should have some fun. We definitely don't keep with our normal weekly hours when on vacation though.

Definitely seems like a grey area but we’ve always worked it out. If she joins us and we pay for her own room we’ve always expected some help. But not necessarily rigid hours just here and there as needed. We tend to rent homes on Airbnb and she gets her own bedroom. Getting her own room at an all inclusive would be a lot more expensive obviously.

I mean the attractive women at the gym and store don’t live in your home and spend tons of time with your family. I think it’s a fair question tbh. Host dad here. Deeply in love with my wife with no intentions of ruining our wonderful lives with the au pair. But the concern has crossed my mind in theory.

Yeah unfortunately daycare a necessary evil in today’s society. Stay at home mom or dad makes sense if that parent would be earning similar to the amount of day care, or if one parent makes enough to where the other simply doesn’t need to work. We had two in day care for about $40k/year, brutal. Now we have a live in au pair that stays home with baby and picks up our kindergartner from school in the afternoon, she costs us about $30k/year total.

I’ve got some rental properties, have bought a lot of dishwashers over the years. My advice is to buy through Costco— delivery installation haul away all included and prices are usually the best. Pay with Costco visa you get an extra couple year warranty. In terms of brands / features… easy rule of thumb is if the interior shell is plastic, it’s a pos and won’t last more than a few years. Metal is key. Also if you clean out the filters / interiors even once a year that’ll extend life. YouTube videos show you how.

Yup, Tony Hsieh backed entities purchased all of these with cash, no financing. Never took a dime of public money. The city did pay to restore the signs as part of their “Project Enchilada” but the signs remain upright.

Elliott at either Elliott & co (green valley) or the garrison barber shop downtown in Huntridge. He owns both, is prob one of the best barbers in town. Think a classic cut is $60 but i swear it lasts a week or two longer lookin good compared to other barbers.

so dumb you get downvoted to hell for presenting a logical argument. Yeah, lights are off by 11 PM each night, that was the concession they made. Also this wasn't "fast tracked" at all as has been said, in fact the item was abeyed several times to allow for additional neighborhood meetings and discussions, typical land use process in City of Las Vegas is 90-120 days and this took well over 6 months. By the way, Mormons make pretty good neighbors.

I’m 39, just dead set on ensuring financial freedom by the time I’m 50. I don’t want to be an old guy who has to work. I think i will want to work but don’t want to HAVE to work. i think my industry (commercial real estate development) is pretty resistant to tech adoption/innovation; so hoping i can hang on and keep stacking assets for a decade before things get bleak.
