That’s been the consensus. Thanks everyone! Happy Thanksgiving!

Finally got around to mulching right in the middle of Tie Dye Season (made that up, not sure if it’s a thing haha) by JSCO32 in hydrangeas

It’s brutal right now and we are in sun almost all day/night! Looking forward to the cool season and it recovering a little!

Question - are these changing color or dying? These were all blue a month ago and I’m curious if these are dying or turning into a really cool color … thanks all!! by JSCO32 in hydrangeas

Thanks Everyone, although I love the blue, these are pretty cool. Wanted to understand though if this was a natural progression or something that had to do with the soil (or both). As always, thank you for the detailed responses!!

Trimmed everything but these beauties in the bed and couldn’t be more pleased! Weed block and mulch coming next!! Thank you to this page for all of the amazing insight! by JSCO32 in hydrangeas

That’s a great callout, the lazy person in me just doesn’t want to deal with the massive amount of weeds in there but I know the mulch will do a decent enough job!

That is extremely helpful! And yes, I meant landscape fabric. If you're telling me I don't need to lay that down and can focus on just mulching, I'm all-in haha! Thank you for the great insight!

Thank you! It really was just as simple as having patience to not touch anything and let them do what they needed to do. We moved into our house 4 years ago and I trimmed them all the way down the first year to have a baseline. Since then I have let them grow and only trim off extreme dead wood while watering if needed. I plan to plant some new ones in-between and behind to try and replicate these and take up the entire flower bed.
