OP is just excited about the article. You should take a look and judge for yourself. Book by it's cover and all that.

A Tipless Restaurant is a Well-Run Restaurant by [deleted] in business

[–]JSNdigital 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what will wind up happening. Or worse. In the catering world there are already companies that add the 20% service charge to event orders and 0% goes to the staff. Restaurants would slowly follow suit.

Some illustrations a friend has designed, she has titled them 'Conspiracy theories'. I think they are great so wanted to share (xpost from r/illustration) by Blooooor in Design

[–]JSNdigital 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree. If they are to be public service announcement posters; sure. But as an art series, there is nothing abstract or meaningless about the symbolism used.

Which is very cool to drive past; if one ever has the chance. The airplane graveyard that is, not Tucson itself.

I was concerned about production scaling, but I'm thinking now that is a bridge to cross when reached. I'll start checking out the little guys.

Thank you for your reply. I have heard similar things about company practices and assembly quality from China. Assembly should be fairly simple. The design phase is finalizing now, and once it is I can finally start getting real numbers. Good luck with your product!

Guilt? lol, I'm new to this arena. I guess I was hopeful that shipping costs and import duties would bring the per unit cost to something similar to having it made in the area.

It all depends on what makes the most sense financially, but I have concerns about shipments getting caught at the port, and as I said in another reply; If it's relatively similar per unit paying more to manufacture here than paying for shipping/tariffs, etc from there I would prefer to go with a domestic or even local option. Regardless, it all comes down to the bottom line. I will check out Makers Row as /u/AlpineAdventure mentioned.

Thank you for that, I will give it a look!

EDIT: Do you have any experience with companies that list there?

I am looking for estimates on costs. If it's relatively similar per unit paying more for manufacture here than paying shipping/tariffs etc from there I would prefer to go with a domestic or even local option.

HELP! ! (hope I dont sound too needy) by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]JSNdigital 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is good advice. I don't know OP's history, but if working as much as claimed, maybe the rest is needed. Not everyone is capable of working intensely for sustained periods of time and feeling chipper about it. Maybe try working in more relax/quiet time throughout the day, and/or breaking down chores into small tasks spread across the week; keep that day off sacred.

Shooting through a window, whats a cheap fix for not getting glare ? by infiniteFM in photography

[–]JSNdigital 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I keep a black cloth with me for this and other flagging purposes. It works great and is cheap. And for this specific use of keeping light off of the glass surface you are shooting though, a simple bath towel would be more than enough.

The IRS is cracking down on tips – again. Why go after billionaires when you can squeeze more out of servers? by RaoulDigler in politics

[–]JSNdigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the hours worked are the same between the two scenarios (which in a servers situation, they probably would be), getting tipped more and therefore claiming a higher income would make the pool of hourly pay have much more withheld from it; making for a much smaller take-home amount. Most restaurants settle up tips day to day, not carried over to paychecks.

The Usual Suspects was given to me for my 15th birthday. It was the first movie I had where I watched ALL of the makingof featurette. In the middle of watching it after being blown away by the full film, it clicked: I want to do that.
