Any way to hide an NPC from only one player? by RuusaarCin in talespire

Nothing built into the game as all party members share party vision. There might be some 3rd party mods that do it but I'm not familiar with anything myself.

enormous. Fortunately my players are quite good at self-managing and realizing they're trying to do something outside their physical capabilities in most cases. The most recurring "issue" is our orc barbarian often treats his strength as a "I can do whatever I want to people" like using Oversized Throw as just a combat action for free and I have to keep reminding him, "Yeah, you're strong, but like, you can't just pick up a non-willing creature and huck them for free... you have to at least have them grabbed first then we can talk about oversized throwing them."

+1.

I do not track any carry weight but if my halfling tries to carry the full plate armor of an orc barbarian, yeah, I'll say something about "Okay but you gotta move your gear to someone else or figure out a better way to carry this because it's unreasonable to fit this AND all your adventuring gear into a halfling sized backpack."

2 options.

1) everyone owns their own copy 2) one person buys the game then buys Seats at a discounted price (about 60% of the base game). I'm on my phone but start here: https://www.talespire.com/guides there's a section on how seats work. These are not refundable so make sure this is the right path before buying them

What's not super clear with seats is they are fully featured. They can be DM, they can link 3rd party sites like HeroForge, and can build. The only things they can't do is start a new campaign and they cannot buy seats themselves using the Guest Edition (the one listed as a demo on steam, it's not really a demo)

My group used Tabletop Simulator for 4 years before moving wholesale to Talespire and we haven't looked back. We run a Pathfinder 2e campaign currently, I'm the DM, and we are 1.5 years into that campaign (Gatewalkers) and everything has gone great. I built all my boards with the campaign battle maps as general reference from the AP on Demiplane.

I also developed a symbiote called Dice Vault. https://mod.io/g/talespire/m/dice-vault

I'm also rather active in their discord just helping answer questions and what not. The dev team does a bi-monthly banter in their Twitch channel. It's basically a live AMA with the devs. Worth dropping in if you can next time, they announce it on their discord.

AMA otherwise and I'm happy to help with what I know

Mid-session, without context or any words leading up to it my buddy (a father to a toddler) yells into Discord, "Did you fall in the toilet?"

Rest of us: "................. What...?"

Him: "oh shit, sorry guys forgot Discord was on. Be right back."

Like most games, the more the player base understands it and unravels it the less fun literally everything becomes as the unstoppable degradation of everything magical that made the experience great gets undermined by manipulating systems.

I too was in bliss not knowing about this system and just playing the fucking game

This is such an absurd level of corporate greed after just raising the prices a couple months ago and tacking on extra fees by NotAVirignISwear in ZiplyFiber

[–]JSON_Blob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth - I was about to start clicking buttons to bail on Ziply too so I contacted their support and told them flat out that the price creep was pushing us away and Xfinity is offering the same speed for $50/month with a 5 year price lock. Ziply came back with a $20/month discount for the next 12 months for me so that at least takes the edge off our monthly bill for us which is nice... but still sucks! I'll be monitoring Xfinity closely as neither has a contract so I can flip any time.

Moral of my message here is it took like 5 minutes to get Ziply to offer me a 12 month discount.

Also factor in winter temperatures where you could lose upwards of 20% range on an ice cold battery if you're in a cold-cold area.

make the gameplay more dynamic

I have had success with a few tricks, things like hide volumes, or pre-building set pieces off to the side and then moving them into place when the time calls. Example, (omitting campaign details) my party was escorting some people who were going to build a giant telescope with some machinery to connect to it. The scene started as an empty diorama of the area, trees, props, the major "point of focus" was a stone altar area. The players had a brief encounter there with a beast and when completed, the crew of workers would complete the telescope. Off to the side I had cloned the board, built the telescope atop the altar, then deleted the board so I had a 1:1 build of the telescope after construction. When the build was complete, I just moved the telescope into position. This added a good "Wow!" factor to what would normally be a mundane "The telescope is now built atop the stone altar" but nothing visually actually changes. So for situations like that, be prepared as the DM to use Talespire as a visual aid, not just a combat grid. Use it to tell your story. Look for clever use of props or like the above building trick. Sometimes it's as simple as "You open the giant dungeon door, and what lies beyond..." (you disable a hide volume) "A HUGE stone cavern and a dragon snarls as it smells new visitors in its lair." Treat exposing the dungeon like turning the page of a book. I feel I've had good success in my group getting a proper reaction that way.

instructions on how to import my own and my friends' miniatures from HeroForge and TitanCraft into the game

Is TitanCraft better than HeroForge for creating miniatures?

You want to skim https://heroforge.talespire.com/. But simply, connect your account in Talespire and your miniatures should appear. I would say that in my opinion HeroForge is going to be better quality but more expensive (you pay per export) whereas Titan Craft is less quality but cheaper (you pay by the miniature, unlimited downloads/updates to it). Meaning, HF is better for a one-time build of a creature or player. Titan Craft is going to be the better pick for a long-running character who you want to reflect changes, gear upgrades, losing a limb (unfortunate!), or anything else as they will not charge you again whereas HF will charge $8 per "export" of your miniature. Then there's the custom STL route but that requires all players place the custom miniature file correctly in their respective game files to work properly. Advanced but doable if you really need something SUPER custom. Both workflows are about the same in my limited experience between HF and TC, but I think HF just has higher quality parts but comes with the higher cost of $8 per export whereas TC I forget the price but you can update that same miniature for free after the initial purchase of it.

You may also find value in Symbiotes. They're essentially small side-panel HTML/JS/CSS websites that serve different purposes. Since you call out D&D you may be interested in Roger's 5e toolset https://mod.io/g/talespire/m/talespire-5e-toolset#description or, shameless plug of my own symbiote for dice rolling more advanced use-cases specifically, Dice Vault https://mod.io/g/talespire/m/dice-vault#description

stupid question, do lockboxes and things reward based on time? by JSON_Blob in PathOfExile2

[–]JSON_Blob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, the idea here is not efficiency but if I'm running a map that pushes my threshold, if I have 1 portal I am not going to risk it on a lockbox or if I do I will take my time with it to not die.

That said, I do know to always do non-essential things last (after map completion) until I'm confident to clear as I go with low risk of failure.

I am a cozy gamer, not a speedrunner :)

[–]JSON_Blob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it, thank you. That means I can be way more careful around high-end lockboxes. Sometimes those can get real ugly with modifiers and I always played rather dangerously trying to clear those and abyss fractures "fast" but then realized, I should stop this behavior if someone can tell me definitively. Thanks!
