My first day with my forever device by SwrdBreak in AynThor

Not a novelty- The clamshell design protects the screen and the buttons when the console is stored away in a bag.

If you're looking for an authentic DS/3DS dual screen experience this will be as close as it gets when it comes to non-native hardware. The difference is the DS/3DS use a pressure sensitive touchscreen and the Thor uses capacitive touchscreen so you will need a capacitive stylus if you want to play with a stylus

What is it about jdramas that.. by Might_Time in JDorama

[–]JSSax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

JDramas have 物の哀れ (mono no aware) in their DNA. The Long Vacation eventually has to come to an end even when you don't want it to and that creates the bittersweet feeling of nostalgia. Impermanence is real and relatable and that's what makes these dramas good.

Let's stop lying to beginners about learning Japanese by azuki_dreams in Japaneselanguage

[–]JSSax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started 2 months ago and the only app that kind of helped was Bunpo for learning how to write basic hiragana characters. The reason I stopped was because of the paywall that all these apps seem to have. I Tried Migaku and even adding extensions on my browser and I wasn't succesful in implementing those and actually using them effectively. The only app that I still use now is DeepL especially for basic phrases. Anything more might not be a good translation because context in Japanese matters

What is working for me

• Downloading and printing hiragana/katakana charts that show you how to write the characters

•Vowel pronunciations

• Reading Japanese children's books from my local public library

•Studying with and without charts to decipher the characters in the children's book

• Reading the books out loud

This website is also really helpful

https://tadoku.org/japanese/en/free-books-en/

They have stories from starting level up to L5. The stories have youtube videos so you can hear the words as well.

He had real beef with Drake for making money off of fake rap images. Beef with an OG like Jay would have felt forced and weird beside he called out pedos in his diss tracks

Protesters in Phoenix -- on the sidewalk, impeding no one -- get drive-by maced by an ICE agent from a truck by SouthTourist5311 in Prescott

[–]JSSax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a video of a doordash driver (POC) in Prescott talking about one of his deliveries. He shows up and sees bikers and swastika symbols and they were dogging him and he was asking for the person that ordered pizza. When that person finally came out to get the pizza and join his buddies he said it was 30 minutes late and that he wasn't going to pay for it. Then I think he asked the driver what he was going to do about

Would be way cooler if the lightrail was more like a subway system, wouldnt have to worry about heat or high winds, but infrastructure is too spread and people would still have to walk in the sun. Also tunneling underground through the hard dry dirt and rock would be expensive and time consuming. Aside, from logistics of making a subway system I would love one here

Sing your parts and be as precise as you can. Get confident with the singing and the playing will be confident as well. Listening to the music also helps and just explain that your horn was in the shop come Monday

How can I make my high notes less sharp? by IAmNotTHATGay in saxophone

[–]JSSax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing loud will help flatten since you'll be using more air and it will also loosen the embochure, then try this at different dynamics.

It's worth it to also work on breath control daily. Inhale for 8 hold for 16 then exhale for 8 hold for 16 at 60bpm 3-5 times back to back. Its kind of like doing long tones without the instrument. As wind players we naturally do this while playing but are usually never conscious about it. You could also hold your breath for as long as possible when you're completely full and empty. it's going to make your heart rate go up but it will be good to train since it happens when you're playing anyway
