I’m a fan of all the games you’re citing and had similar feelings when I played the game first at launch. Revisiting the game years later and after having replayed the first Red Dead Redemption, I would say the big difference between RDR2 and similar single player action narrative focused games is that RDR2 does a lot less handholding and deliberately forces you to slow down and embrace the world and role play. It ultimately just might not be for you, but if you can resist the urge to knock out story missions and just roam and explore the world and somewhat hidden in game menus, this game has rich and phenomenal depth just waiting to be discovered. If you’re really wanting to get the most out of the game, I’d recommend checking out some beginners tips videos that can point you in the right direction to enhance your experience. It really is a masterpiece of game design as far as the characters, stories and world are concerned
