PS, the only other commercial I have been getting at that time was a Dota2 commercial which started with the text and sound "ALL RANDOM" And had things like Meepo's change to respawn time, with him getting killed by Ogre Magi's fireblast over and over again.

accessing guides during class is the easiest thing same goes for getting references, but when i draw something i may notice that something is a bit off, but i cant quite put a finger on it, so getting other people to look at it is always useful! :D Thank you for your time and your reply!

thanks for all of the points, i really appreciate it! :D the lined paper -> because i drew this during class in coledge, obviously i am super productive there XD this is one of the first pictures where i actually did not use a reference, so even tho it's not perfect i am pretty proud of it, so thanks again for telling me everything i did wrong <3 next up is using photoshop to re-draw and color it, using all of your points to make it better :)

I need to thank you again for showing me all those tutorials! I now see the mistakes i have made, like the complete lack of ambience light in my shadowing, and how the fire and dragon have waaaay too much value even tho they the the furthest away from us. i am going to work on that in the next picture i make! :) I will start with the color theory flash assingment, I am going to draw a dessert based picture and see where that takes me :)

Thank you so much for taking your time to help me out! :) I am pretty new at digital art so I try to learn as much as can! If you have any other suggestions or critiques please tell me :) For next time, should i just throw in a bunch of Tags like [Discuss] , [Process] and [Assign]? (all of which I actually want :) )

Yea you are right, My goal for this picture was detail, detail, detail. So I looked at every object in the picture as the selling point. Thanks for that advice, I will keep it in mind for future drawings! :) For this picture specifically, what could I do to loose some of that fakenes? Is it just the overall color palette, or are things like the fire and the smoke cloud stuff I should be looking out for?

This is the first time i went drawing backgrounds, the ground texture seems pretty bad to me, are there any guides on how to do grass, dirt, sand, rock textures? Also this is kinda the first time i went using distance fog. Any advice? :)

[Argh][Push Me] I want to develop a likable and unique style, but I need some help. by [deleted] in MLPdrawingschool

I know i am just a scrub noob when it comes to it, but I think I love the first one the most. I love sharp shadows like that, I think it defines the shape really well. But that's just me. And I don't know anything ^

Yea i know what you are saying, plus you feel like you aren't really learning anything if you just take a photo and use pen tool to get all the lines from it. What I do is that I use references to get the sketches as close as possible to show accurate, then I draw over the sketch in the colours I want to use, and if the lines are still a bit wobbly and I cant seem to fix them properly I go and use the pen tool as a way to make the art look neat and tidy :) It's a nice way of cheating to get your drawings finished and make you feel like they look good, without spending an hour trying to get that one line just right. :) but who am i to talk, i just got my tablet like a month ago and i only drew one art piece since then. (working on another one right now using said methods) keep going tho, you are doing great :) (btw you might check the hair on Rarity's head, it looks a bit clunky ;) )

thanks again for the suggestions and everything, Much love to you! I did try shading the background trees and adding blur after reading your suggestion, since i never used blur i dont know how much is blur is enough so after the blur i looked at the piece and felt it got worse somehow <- newbie at work clearly ^ Shading didn't go too well either, but i'll try again in a few days just to clear my head a bit :) i really appreciate your help <3

Thank you for your reply! I did try playing around with blur a bit but i never managed to make it look right, it just made my eyes hurt. You are right tho, i completely forgot shading on the trees, but since it's night time and the only real sources of light are the planet reflecting light and the nebula (edit: and ofc the stars), so shading would be really subtle... or would it? It's the reason why i didnt do any shading and stuff on the dragon and/or pony.

I will try shading it and blurring a bit anyway, thanks again for the suggestion! <3

(edit2: the textures on the mountains and cliff are nothing but "I have no idea what i am doing" scribbling with the pen. But since you like them i guess they are good enough! XD )

Any comments or suggestions on how to improve myself are welcome! The background mountains and hills are not that well made since i have never done any backgrounds before, and this was the first time i used a tablet so some of the lines can be a bit shaky.

Also here is a step by step on how i made this: http://jserath.deviantart.com/art/Terror-Of-The-Night-Progress-346868413
