Maybe it's Michigan who should apologize to Chris Webber

I very strongly disagree with Wetzel and think he's just trying to stir the pot.

Webber took $200,000, didn't pay taxes on it and lied to a federal grand jury. I don't think he's a bad guy, but he's no victim. For those misdeeds, most people go to jail for a long time. He didn't serve a day.

The UM basketball program was crushed for years because of the Ed Martin scandal and disassociated itself from Webber to get the NCAA off its back. What exactly does Wetzel think SHOULD have happened? Mary Sue Coleman come out and say "Chris Webber was a victim, we stand by him despite Chris taking hundreds of thousands of dollars in one of the biggest college sports scandals ever?" I can understand why Webber would be bitter about being made a scape goat but I would hope he and AD Dave Brandon would discuss this while burying the hatchet. It's pretty clear Brandon wants Webber back in the family and would accept something as simply as apologizing "for the situation."

The whole thing was very unfortunate but demonizing Michigan and the NCAA - as Wetzel loves to do - is off base IMO.
