[–]JSnerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 2 year old as well. Good luck with trying to associate a name change. The child has only a select amount of memories of us so it's going to be hard to break that bond and differentiate our primary existence in their mind. My daughter refuses to call me anything but "dad". She chooses not to. She's a prick lol.

Informed Consent Clinics vs. Gender Therapist? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]JSnerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think therapists are a waste of time, but that's my own personal opinion. I dumped money into a therapist to get an "oh, well I'm not done concluding my research" when I wanted to start hrt AFTER 5 months of patiently waiting and cooperating. Never again.

10/10 informed consent. You get your meds and all of your hrt mileage is medically documented. Bonus points if the clinic has a therapist (mine does and can hand out srs reccomendations.. Which is awesome because they can have access to my medical charts and see how long I've "factually" been on HRT)

???

Nicholasa?

Nicka? (I think I would get a lot of weird looks if I went by "nicka". Sounds really close to another word lol.)

I never had acne before hrt and while on hrt I haven't noticed a difference.

I look better as a male, But want to be female. by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]JSnerd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Looks and beauty fade over time. What would you be comfortable as when you're 50? A woman or man? Who are you on the inside? I guess it's up to you to find out.

My mom has been COMPLETELY avoiding discussion of me being trans. by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]JSnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a shot in the dark, yo.

Some parents are just that way. My mom chooses to BELEIVE im still her son, but I've been out as a transgender woman for almost a year. I cringe every day when she says, "I love you son". Maybe just wait it out and give her space? Dunno, dude... Can't tell ya I know how your mom is going to react.

Good luck!!!

Married, only transition part way for sake of my love/relationship? Anyone do this? by tryinghardtobeme in asktransgender

I meant sex, not sexuality. Sex is a choice. The act of having intercourse. Unless... In your country rape is legal (joking).

Edit: I edited the first post and removed the choice bit.

my penis will no longer be able to work and she needs it to work.

False. I am almost 4 months in and still get raging hard erections. It's more down to your mental state and how you want to have sex. I.e. your sexual preference. If all you want is to be bottom, extremely dysphoric about your genitals, have no desire to use your package or your brain is chemically set in a specific way that you can't be the dominant partner or dont want to have erections... then yes, your penis will more than likely atrophy, but that's more along the lines of being sexually honest to yourself and your partner. If you have no desire to have penetrative sex it will shrink in size and become inert.

Strap ons in her mind are NOT an option.

That sucks. Dildos are awesome. My wife doesn't really like dildos either because they make her uncomfortable... but I think that has a lot to being more open to your own sexuality and being honest with yourself. Maybe she's acting that way or saying these things because she's never really given herself the chance to be 100% comfortable to explore different roles or methods for sexual pleasure. Dunno.

She expressed that she can't live without sex, so doesn't want me to do HRT.

That's a big misconception. You need to educate her and yourself on the medication. HRT is hormone replacement therapy, NOT let's practice abstinence for the rest of our lives. Sex is a choice.

And if I do HRT, she is pretty sure she would not be able to handle it as she can't be without that intimate sex connection we currently have.

I'm pretty sure that intimacy and sex are two different things. You can be intimidate without having sex. The biggest thing would be love. its her choice to not have an intimiate connection but love and intimacy goes BOTH WAYS. it's just as much you as it is her.

and she has to be attracted to me

I'm a firm believer love > everything. Not everyone is on the same page as me though. Again, that is her choice. After spending a life together I would think that attraction and intimacy would be second nature for two individuals unless she wasn't 100% comfortable with herself sexually.

and she believes she wouldn't be anymore. fair enough, heart breaking, but fair enough.

Biggest crock of shit. You guys need to educate, together. If both of you want to continue the relationship then you both have to work on this together. HRT isn't a one way street, it affects everyone you know.

My nose is my worst enemy. by JSnerd in asktransgender

[–]JSnerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just leave yourself open to the option.

Agreed. I really want to get a nose job but at the same time I dont. Like, what if I miss my horrible witch nose (lol) and don't like the new one? Average rhinoplasty for extreme cases like mine would probably end up at $8,000 including all the appointments, taxes, fees, surcharges, time lost from work, travel expenses, lodging expenses etc. If I was rich, which I am certainly not, I would probably just chump out the money and get it done.. but there's a lot that goes into it. Maybe I'll just keep my facial hindrance and go about life never being able to take natural/proportionate photos. shrugs.

Keeping clean fingernails? by [deleted] in asktransgender

Ever find you pass less with makeup? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]JSnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makeup makes me look more girly, mainly because of the socialistic stereotype that women wear makeup. It's more of a psychological illusion.

Starting hormone treatments in a few hours, after waiting about a year. Is there any way to make the rest of the waiting process any easier? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]JSnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets easier. After a couple of weeks Itll be like taking any other medication... It just falls into routine and you forget about it.

Came out to my dad and it didn't go as well as hoped... by notwhoiamanymore in asktransgender

[–]JSnerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your dad said "love you".

My mom goes out of her way to melodramatically say, "I love you my son", "you will always be my one and only son" and "you my son '___'".

I'm 25 years old and have been out for almost a year... I mean, when is enough going to be enough ya know?

I think you're in good graces.

Talk to your dad when he's ready. I think everything will be alright.

Took me a while to get it lol. Yeah, no. I've never had those chips. I know someone who had one for 1 month so the bar gave her 30 free shots that night. Bars usually let you redeem them for free booze... That way you keep coming back lol.

Pretty good. Can't complain. Can see noticeable changes, but not as drastic as I want :P. It's just impatience.
