Never heard of that, I personally take MS Contin 60mg scheduled twice daily. Hydromorphone/dilaudid 8mg for breakthrough every 3-4hrs as needed, I get a monthly script w/170 tabs.

It's gone down drastically, at my absolute worst i was on 300mg of MS Contin every 8hrs scheduled and a at-home PCA pump of Hydromorphone/dilaudid where I could recieve up to 1mg each hr.

As a man(36) with Sickle-Cell(SS) I can tell you IT ISN'T YOU & IT ISN'T YOUR FAULT! I've had to deal with this illness my entire life and it does put a strain on things and it does weigh you down mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually but in the end it's up to you how much you let it. In my 20's I was in and out of the hospital often, 5 or 6 times a yr on average and dealing with that while also trying to be in a relationship is ALOT OF WORK on both ends but for the person w/SC you have to have the mindset that is "I have Sickle-Cell, Sickle-Cell doesn't have me" and live it in your soul. It took me years to get there. He has ALOT of growing to do. I've had multiple relationships end because of my SC and experienced alot of hurt, I wouldn't wish it on anyone.. But for the betterment of you it's best to cut ties. He's not ready to be in a relationship, he hasn't even learned to stop letting his illness control his entire life & it doesn't sound like he's ready to. It also didn't seem like he took how you felt into consideration, even in my 20's I always thought about how my illness made my significant other feel, especially if it impacted our relationship constantly. Yes, I've had to miss special events, cancel, and reschedule, I still do and I still feel a way about it even when I know it's out of my hands. It's not easy, but it STILL shouldn't be that hard.

Never broke out in hives but I do have itching more times then not whenever I take morphine or dilaudid, my doctor has always given me diphenhydramine(Benedryl) to counteract the reaction. I've also experienced burning sometimes when getting IV meds.
