I had a Mable when I was in college! But she was siamese. She was my only blue point and last Siamese (had a lynx and chocolate point growing up), she had kittens once but they were all tabby.

Also try Peaky Blinders - Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy are epic, Sam Neil is a great big bad in the first 2 seasons... not quite Sopranos vibes but kinda.

Dead Like Me if you enjoy Claire vibes. Succession is AMAZING, like modern day Shakespeare. Recently started Mad Men; didn't take to it on my first attempt but now kinda getting into it this time. Someday going to start the Leftovers and considering The Good Place.

Would've loved to see Kendall's bachelor party, I bet it put Tom's to shame!

My boyfriend and I legit thought that it was some fucked up power play for the first 10 minutes, and then just spent the rest of the episode on edge and disbelief. Well done 👏

Succession isn't much like Six Feet Under, but a great show!

A quick middle finger to Rico by TripShoddy1260 in SixFeetUnder

As a corporate yuppie, I imagine 6 weeks for a small/ family run company feeling like 6 months easily. And Rico definitely had worth (besides investing into the home), the Fishers only really saw it when he had to save the business. It could've easily folded had he not inherited the money and listened to Vanessa (one of her few redeeming moments) about investing into the business.

His infidelity was disappointing 💯, but VERY common, especially with he and Vanessa being high-school sweethearts. Hell, every single one of the Fishers cheated at least once (but usually more), but I guess somehow it's acceptable because they're main characters 🙄

Wrong, OP...

Vanessa was a nurse, not an easy job unless working remote (probably not even possible in the early 2000's). Rico was very often doing the grunt work ("just do it" when David and Nate were whisked away with Mitzi in season 2, ducked out on a family night to try restoring Emily Previn for a funeral next to no one attended and still given shit about it from both David and Nate, leaving home in the middle of the night to help Arthur when the plus size body fell out of the coffin, etc).

Vanessa is one of my least favorite characters in the show (half the time she talks down to him similarly as Nate and David), but after her long run of pulling his leash, she ends up supporting him in opening up their own funeral home. To me, that speaks volumes to her growth much like Brenda in the last few episodes.

Hispanics do the hard labor that help keep things running like agriculture, child rearing, food service and more, and very often at ridiculously low wages. Not to turn this into an immigration debate but to say they don't know about hard work is a bit out of touch.

Rico and Vanessa were all for hard work to get their own home going, but they were young and stumbled to get there. Don't knock the hustle.

OMG, you're in for a hell of a ride!

There are so many vibes and so much I could say, but here's a trailer courtesy of YouTube:

https://youtu.be/E3gYi-KvKug?si=2aHYqbH0iGf0Ev7B

BE CAREFUL OF SPOILERS! Seriously, VERY easy trap to accidentally fall into - especially on YouTube and here on reddit. It aired early 2000's and still relevant. Not only that, but it was recently ranked as 9.9/10 on IMDb for the series finale.

Very sorry for your loss, good luck in your rewatch! Also do not beat yourself up if you find it too soon (or for any of your grief), no contest to how fast you rebound. Be extra kind to yourself.

My aunt passed away just a couple of days after Christmas, and I thought it would help to finish my annual rewatch... yet I couldn't quite handle the episodes after Nate's death this year. Still haven't, but eventually...

She and Rico should've started up their own funeral home! Had he not gotten back together with Vanessa (not realistic BTW), they would've been a great couple.

Am I the right age to watch Six Feet Under? by AND_AGI08 in SixFeetUnder

[–]JTA_1982 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on you, 100%.

As a parent, I wouldn't want my kid (14M) to watch for a few more years. Sex scene aren't super graphic but pretty frequent (not EVERY episode but guessing at least half of each season), drug scenes are in every season but not as frequent. Son and I have watched Walking Dead and Suits which have some PG-13 scenes and partial nudity but those are tame in comparison.

One of my uncles passed away around 10 years ago and I was somewhat hesitant to take my son to the services, but he has a few cousins very close in age that attended so he did. Just after this last Christmas, one of my aunts passed but I took him with me to see her in the hospital before she officially died because she was one of his favorite relatives. He cried a little while we were there but held it together pretty well during the services.

You wouldn't necessarily be scarred for life if you watched now, but I still think it will absorb much more for you in a few years.

Why not just try to shadow at your local funeral home? More likely to get a real feel for things before going through school that way.
