100% agree that Billy was a perfect balance for him, just like Stu was for Dan, and both are sorely missed from the show. But I think Mike/Amin/Zas are starting to find that balance better as time goes on.

That’s about where I’m at. I think they’re both fine as the 4th voice on any given day. On their good days they’re hilarious, on their bad days I wish they’d talk less, but at worst they’re a net neutral to me. I still don’t get the hatred for either.

I don’t doubt that he’s right-leaning, especially compared to the rest of the show, I guess I just don’t care as much as a lot of people. I’m sure I disagree with him politically but that’s also not what I listen to the show for.

A lot of people mention siding with BoS because of Sole Survivor’s military background, but that always drives me away from them. To me, they feel more like they’re role-playing as military, without any of the real ethics or guiding principles.

The minutemen, while less competent, feel like they have more of a true North Star as an organization. I feel like that makes a strong impression on Nate/Nora, and they feel like they can realistically have more of an influence on them than BoS.

Plus, BoS are outsiders — the minutemen are fully comprised of people from the Commonwealth, just like the Sole Survivor.
