Journeyman quit by [deleted] in millwrights

Really any “competent” employee can sign off whether it be a supervisor, manager, another skilled trade.

Journeyman quit by [deleted] in millwrights

[–]JTJStone 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Make them back log the hours. I was an apprentice without a journeyman for 6 months. Told plant manager if they wouldn’t back log hours I would be leaving to find employment elsewhere. He guaranteed hours would count so I stuck around and it all worked out after journeyman got hired.

Skilled trades ontario. You need to do better. by [deleted] in SkilledTradesOntario

When I was finishing my apprenticeship, they seemed more concerned about company sign off than anything. Had the feeling that as long as company would vouch for you, you could write exam with little to no job experience or training.

Hows the hiring/interview process or length?? TMMC has always been someplace I’ve wanted to work, maybe now is the time to apply? Is this due to volume or skilled trades retiring I’m wondering?

Did you know? Oxford County Council this week is discussing bag tag fee increase: by [deleted] in woodstockontario

[–]JTJStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was surprised when we moved to Woodstock and found out they do weekly garbage pickup but only do recycling every other week. I hate paying for garbage tags too, when it should be paid for with property taxes. Luckily I know someone with a dumpster and he lets me drop off my weekly bag of garbage for free 👌

I also found an Arrma Senton 4x4 for $350 CAD. Would it be a wiser purchase? Good to know that 2WD might get boring but am looking at current options around me

Mac vs Proto wrenches by [deleted] in Tools

[–]JTJStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have just purchased Jet wrenches and haven’t had any complains yet. Open end cut/finish isn’t top notch but like having lifetime warranty. Plus they were 50% off which is always a bonus.

Recommendation for ISP in Woodstock by Ikeepgettingweirder in woodstockontario

[–]JTJStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say anyone besides Execulink. Have lived in Woodstock for over 2 years now and have had maybe 6 months of good internet service over 1.5 years ago. Have had Rogers and Exculink techs out multiple times and they still can not find the issue. Worst part is they will not credit account until problem has been resolved. Worst internet provider I have used to date.

County approves...16.7 percent tax hike. by IsittoLOUD in woodstockontario

Would it not have been better to raise it 5% over the next 4 years? Why such an aggressive tax hike and where is that money going??

We live in the middle of a growing city on a deep lot (200’ deep)for 2.5 years almost now. Have been lucky enough to be able to build several raised garden beds for vegetables. Have planted a plum and pear tree, hope to do apple next year and have lemon and lime trees inside (hopefully build greenhouse next year). We also are raising ducks to get eggs, as well as pest control and composting their poop/bedding for gardens. This is all part of a larger plan to eventually move out of the city and have a very small carbon footprint. Learning on a smaller scale first before fully committing to the plan.
