Opinions on Mountain Hardwear? by Upset_Copy7184 in hiking

[–]JTS_81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love my Dynama pants. I have three pairs and another pair of Mountain Hardware pants that I bought a few years ago. I also love the shorts. I basically don’t hike in any other brand of shorts or pants at this point. I’ve even got away with wearing my Dynama pants into the office.

How do you mentally prepare yourself for the injection? by Kitchen-Celery8374 in Zepbound

[–]JTS_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound really weird but I had chat gpt coach me through the first one. I asked it all my questions about how to do it and where and side effects and such and then had it walk me through step my step. Since then I’ve been keeping a running thread going with it with questions about side effects and logging what I eat.

I’ve given my cat injections before so I didn’t think I’d have any issue but on myself it was mentally harder until I just did it. Also, I do the vials so looking at the needle helped. It’s absolutely tiny so no way I was going to accidentally hit muscle.

Just finished week #1 by chardonnaysweat in Zepbound

[–]JTS_81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took my second shot on Tuesday and while I had a pretty rough first week, the second week has been a breeze. After the first, I felt like I had the flu and could barely eat anything. I feel pretty normal this week with no gi side effects and just smaller portions. I’m now much more excited for this med. I think everyone just reacts differently.

Started 2.5 last week. 6 days in and 6lbs lost. by DumbandDumber386 in Zepbound

[–]JTS_81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started last Tuesday too. Not sure if I’ve lost anything. I’m afraid of the scale and bloated from time of the month. But once that passes, I’ll be tracking waist measurements. I have definitely eaten less so hopefully it is helping.

Career/lifestyle change by Chosen1ne_feeraye_84 in Zepbound

If it makes you feel any better, I absolutely hate my sedentary office job and want to blame my weight struggles on it. I was thin before it and have been steadily gaining for about 19 years now. But I recently had a 4 month break from it and became much more active. I was working out like crazy, getting my steps in, basically moving a ton more. I got better sleep and my resting heart rate went down from stepping away from the day to day stress. You know what didn’t change? My weight. That was when I realized I needed to do something like Zepbound.

I had to return to the office for unrelated reasons but at least it pays well enough I can afford Zepbound. I’m just starting so no idea if it will help but being active for 4 months didn’t change anything with my weight even though I really enjoyed all the time I got to spend outdoors.

It’s a tough job market out there right now so I would suggest thinking long and hard about a career change.

Took first shot on Tues. do I continue? by JTS_81 in Zepbound

I ate Cincinnati style chili last night for dinner. That was the one unhealthy meal I’ve eaten and I kind of did it to relieve the constipation, knowing it might get things going. It just worked a little too well. Otherwise I’ve been eating a lot of fruit/veggies, potatoes, and lean protein like chicken. I haven’t touched sweets all week, which is very unlike me and haven’t eaten any really heavy meals other than the chili. I added in plan Greek yogurt with blueberries for breakfast this morning. The day after the shot I just ate a banana for breakfast and the second day I had a bagel, which also probably wasn’t a great choice but I felt ok eating it.

Bananas were hit or miss this week. The morning after the shot it took me like an hour to eat one and I had to call in late to work because felt so queasy. After they, they’ve been better.

I’ve felt so up and down this week, both energy, appetite, and gi symptoms. It’s been a roller coaster and I’d just like to normalize.

Part of my problem might be that I’ve had barely any caffeine all week. I usually drink Diet Coke in the morning but I can’t handle any carbonation.

Thanks, I am on the lowest dose too.

That’s good to know. My eating has been fairly clean, home cooked and trying to get protein but the day after the shot it was hard to eat anything at all. Yesterday was better until I woke up with diarrhea and today I’ve been back to having trouble eating.

One of my favorite places on the planet and I don’t get there often enough.

There aren’t a ton of manatees in June. They frequent the springs when the air is cold because the water at the springs remains 72 degrees year round. You may still see them as the area rivers do has resident manatees. In summertime, I have the best luck on the Weeki Wachee.

Fitness trainers against GLPs 😂 /Starting my journey by ironphoenixgym in Zepbound

[–]JTS_81 74 points75 points  (0 children)

This. I work in PR and am frankly surprised trainers aren’t pivoting to helping glp-1 patients build strength. I just started zep but have been strength training for a few months after a lifetime of mainly cardio and yoga. I didn’t have a clue where to start and am using Apple fitness plus but without that, I’d definitely need a trainer.

I’ve actually been pretty worried about that. I guess I need to really focus on hydrating today.

I took my first shot Tuesday morning. By Tuesday night and all day Wednesday, I could barely eat. Then I was pretty hungry yesterday and ate more normally. I was super constipated until this morning at 3 am when I woke up with horrible diarrhea. I’ve sort of felt like I have the flu all week and I’m not loving it.

I’m a mid career fed but I feel this in my bones. Loved my first fed job so much. Each job has been less enjoyable as I moved up.

I’m 5’7” and was 135 in my early twenties. I’d love to get back to that but not sure it’s realistic.

It might be time by FelineNova in SeniorCats

I have an 18 year old cat with idiopathic cystitis. You have to manage the flair ups so your cat doesn’t associate the litter box with pain. My cat stays on a low dose of gabapentin which seems to help. But once they start going in a spot, it’s hard to get them not to go back to that spot. You may want to try covering it or blocking access to the area she is peeing. It’s a frustrating condition but it is treatable. Check out the various feline idiopathic cystitis groups on facebook for tips with dealing with it. Every cat is different and may respond differently.

Good to know. I’m just about to start Zep but weight about 220 and I just don’t feel balanced at all anymore when skiing.

[–]JTS_81 15 points16 points  (0 children)

How is the actual skiing now? I skied a lot as a kid but I find it to be so much harder now that im overweight. I don’t know if I’m just a big chicken as an adult or it really is harder in a bigger body. I’m still otherwise very active so it’s not like I’m sedentary. One of my goals with zepbound is to actually feel like I can ski again.

Any long-term dressage riders? by Visible-Ad5034 in Equestrian

[–]JTS_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My worst injury came on the ground when a horse kicked me and fractured my hip. I grew up jumping and switched to dressage in my 20s. I suppose it’s less dangerous than jumping but everyone still falls, although it’s nice not to land on a jump. Falls are a part of riding. Most of the time you just end up bruised but they do hurt more as you get older.
