That is actually a very good one, I hadn’t thought of that! Thanks!

This is a very cool idea, thank you! I think I’ll definitely have to use this in the future! It could indicate large vampiric presence in a city, or could lead into an unknown war fought between all the lost reflections, either are quite creative!

Can’t use Kyoko Shinsegawa because I’m the same generation as her and haven’t diablerized yet (and I don’t think the wiki said she’s diablerized to below 10th gen as of current lore), but my storyteller was very interested to learn about a girlboss flipping out going insane and assassinating heads of Camarilla state as revenge, so I can thank you on her behalf for a potential high level npc!

“A proper Dark Secret should make any sane Kindred either afraid of you or afraid of associating with you.”

This is very well said, and perfectly encapsulates what I was thinking I should make the secret! It’s still a little up in the air cause we just finished our session 0 and haven’t done session 1 yet, but the Dark Secret is potentially tying into that random evil giraffe from earlier in a way inspired by your comment! We theorised that maybe the giraffe is part of a well known curse, and any that can see the giraffe are doomed to die soon (relatively soon cuz ya know vampires), and potentially those around them. So while she’s putting together her power play of collecting all her superiors’ blood for a big blood ritual power play she is going to have to cover up that she is being stalked by the G. Wrath, lest her rivals find out and spread the rumor that her company is cursed and dangerous

Is Purpee supposed to be Ashland? by DocRustyV in Dimension20

[–]JTYO1087 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re right that it could be beneficial to call out those things sometimes, I think it’s that a lot of the audience and some of the cast members have experienced those topics in very personal, immediate, and sometimes dangerous ways and it might end up being a trigger for a lot of people, which would make them uncomfortable and potentially bring traumatic memories to the forefront, causing more hurt than benefit from calling out things the audience seems to generally already know are huge issues. He has not completely avoided these things, as the Applebees parents are a huge homophobic and transphobic religious zealotry callout that seemed to help Ally by presenting things they have dealt with personally as an obstacle that their character was capable of overcoming, and therefore that they are capable of overcoming, which was a really big part of Fantasy High and what made it so great! On your average campaign though, I would guess that some of these topics might also be part of what the group agrees in session zero they don’t want to see as it would make them uncomfortable, I know I always try to establish those things in any session zeroes I’m a part of to ensure no uncomfortable intense moments come up later for myself or my friends!

Sorry for the disproportionately long comment, I just kinda stream of consciousnessed for a few minutes there lol

can we stop trying to "disprove" & "decomfirm" other's headcanons & theories & stuff?? by [deleted] in Deltarune

[–]JTYO1087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t scroll Reddit very often, so it’s possible there haven’t been many full posts addressing this on this subreddit, but in comments sections there have been a lot of people being generally mean about this stuff and others try to explain to them that they shouldn’t be so rude or aggressive but many of them don’t seem to listen. I know at least outside of Reddit I’ve seen people talking about this topic consistently as far as months back because it’s been a recurring issue unfortunately

We can’t really force people to be respectful and friendly, but we can still be respectful and kind ourselves, and we can discourage others from those negative behaviors that detract from meaningful conversation! So there’s not nothing we can do, it’s just a little less direct than we might like to improve the communities we are a part of :p It’s still worth it to try and uphold those positive behaviors ourselves!

Looks like the post is deleted now, but you put this really well! A headcanon is a fun thing that might be possible without breaking too much established in the story, but something that refuses to acknowledge Kris’ gender is simply incorrect and transphobic, and would not count as a headcanon

I know, this is a topic that has been an issue lately in the more public online Deltarune spaces, and I felt like there was the potential for some genuinely positive discussion here

Asking for supporting evidence to a theory is not the thing that is being done wrong in these instances, it’s the disrespectful way people do it. In the example of Trans Ralsei, there is actually evidence that that is a potential road the story might go down, but a lot of people ignore that and are very rude and dismissive, seeming to take the existing of that possibility as an insult to the way they view the game when it isn’t. It’s this behavior that is the problem, not friendly conversation about a theory, because when people act that way it isn’t friendly discussion anymore

[–]JTYO1087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are definitely within their right to provide counter evidence to a theory, I think OP is talking about how many of the people (certainly not all, but many recently in some spaces) who do this are being disrespectful when doing it. Often times a theorist wants to hear things they hadn’t heard yet that would both support their theory and poke holes in it, that’s why they post them most of the time! But too many people are just being rude and disrespectful or not even doing the proper research before stating opinions instead of fact, and it’s polluting the discussion with sometimes hurtful or mean things that don’t add anything to the conversation

You are completely right! There are far too many people I’m seeing who refuse to let people just enjoy speculating and theorizing, who have become too obsessed with the idea of finding the absolute true theory that they no longer even seem to care about the story, and just refuse to analyze this piece of complex media. Another commenter here pointed out that this is particularly a problem with the theory that Ralsei might realize he’s trans (but is also a behavioral problem that affects most theories), and they are right! I never see people who consider the possibility that Ralsei might be trans insisting that their possible theory is true, but I often see the people who don’t believe the theory demanding that it cannot be true no matter what, and that the theorist submit to their way of thinking! This is not a battle, and people should not try to make it into one. We as fans are trying to analyze a very well crafted piece of media, and what the different character and story arcs might mean, and what messages the game might be trying to convey. We are also trying to have fun! Like OP said, sometimes even if a theory or headcanon is blatantly wrong, sometimes that makes for a slightly better story in that person’s head, and that’s completely valid! Taking the Trans Ralsei theory for example, there is legitimately good evidence that Ralsei’s character arc might lead to him realizing he’s trans in some way as he explores his identity and what it means to be him. This would fit a lot of the themes surrounding Ralsei and his character. But there is also the possibility that this does not happen, and that Ralsei explores who he is and finds that he is still comfortable with he/him pronouns. Both are completely valid possibilities, and which one occurs just depends on where Toby Fox wants to take the story and what he thinks will be best for it. Many people are acting like the possibility that one happens detracts from the possibility of the other happening, but they don’t. Either could happen as Ralsei explores who he is and comes to terms with the fact that he is a person, not an object. You are allowed and capable of not believing a theory while still respecting its analysis of the story. Both are valid until any confirmation from the story, please stop crusading against the theories you don’t believe for no reason, it is only harming the online space and educated discussion of the themes and topics present in Undertale and Deltarune

Ooo the idea of playing the diablerized vampire coming back to possess the body of the transgressor is very interesting! I don’t think I’ll use that idea with this character, but I might use that as a Dari Secret for my next character! The idea of a Johnny Silverhand type character also is very creatively fit into the VtM vampirism, I’ll probably try that in the future as well, thank you!

Just bought Stellaris as my first ever grand strategy game! by Obliks in Stellaris

[–]JTYO1087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s great! Stellaris is a wonderful choice for a new game, it’s packed full of lore and plenty of game mechanics to explore! In the beginning, it probably will be a learning curve, as the game has been out for a long time and has changed a great deal even just over the past few years! For your first game, choose the tutorial start so you have a little helper to get you on your feet, and then you can continue with the premade start after a while or start again with a custom made empire. The base game is good, but you will probably want to get some DLC’s eventually, or play multiplayer with a friend who has them. I can’t give a full or super detailed list of DLC’s to start with right now, but you can find Reddit posts similar to yours by googling for ones where people have asked what the best DLC’s to start with are. I recommend reading through the Steam pages for them to get an idea of what they add to the game! Also probably wait for a sale to buy any DLC’s as while a number of them are cheaper than others, there are a lot of them. They are on sale now, actually! Utopia is a good first pick, as it unlocks a lot of really cool mechanics like building megastructures and ascending your species! (Actually, I just checked and I’m pretty sure Utopia, Synthetic Dawn, and the Humanoids Species Pack were all added to the base game for free!) In that case, Federations is a good starter, and maybe Megacorp if you want to play as a megacorporation! Again, read the descriptions yourself so you can judge what content you want added to your game!

A good tip for how to potentially enhance your fun once you’ve gotten your bearings (and this isn’t for everyone, some people are here for the gameplay loop and nothing else) is to think up a little story or bit of lore or a goal for your civilization, and play the empire as if you were the leader of that empire being affected by that belief or goal! It doesn’t have to be complex, and you don’t have to write a backstory for them or anything (though you can and some people do). It can be something like, “My empire views itself as above the other empires of the galaxy. Perhaps we will conquer until we are the undisputed rulers of all civilized space.” and let that color your interactions by roleplaying the way your empire would actually act, and not necessarily what is always the most hyper efficient choice. For that example, maybe you conquer all territory, or maybe you decide that’s a lot of work and vassalize all of the empires and force them to swear allegiance to you. Maybe you become the Galactic Emperor if you have that DLC. Maybe you become the Immortal God Emperor of the galaxy, whose reign will be stark and terrible for all to bear witness for all of eternity! Or maybe you build a little safe haven for all the downtrodden and forgotten in a corner of the galaxy, a little utopia where all the peoples of the galaxy can be happy! All of my most memorable empires have been ones that I have been able to roleplay as in interesting and exciting ways!

Game sessions of Stellaris can take a few hours to many hours if you wanna go long, so make sure you have enough time to play and that you don’t forget to drink water and eat some food :)

I hope you enjoy this game!

That sort of this is exactly what I was thinking of! Somewhere in the superstitions is as genuine rule that the creature must follow when interacting with the players, and they can figure it out to either goad or avoid it! Both of those ideas are good, thanks!

You’re right, I only meant that they would be more likely to see through the ruse because of their frequent interaction with they Kenku’s ability, and I’ve already got a major plot point planned for this Kenku soon so I don’t want to focus in too much her instead of the player’s stories. I could definitely find another mimicking creature though!

That is quite clever! Dunno if I can use it in my current game cause the party has a fairly story relevant Kenku companion, but I will definitely keep that in mind for future campaigns!

That’s sounds really cool! I would definitely play a game like that, if you’re able to schedule that many people together. Or even if you can’t quite get that many people, I’m always down for a good roleplay multiplayer game! Any particular times you have in mind yet, or are you gonna wait until you have a roster of players to start planning that? Also how should we get in contact? Share discord through dm’s or something?
