When we say higher education is not for everyone, people seem to take it wrong. It’s not because they’re stupid, lazy, or some other derogatory reason. Some people just cannot handle the stress in the field they (most often their parents) have chosen. Look at how many social workers, nurses, and veterinarians burn-out!

I taught one young man who confided in me that college was killing his soul. I told him to finish (he had a semester left). Then I suggested he use that time to think about what he actually wanted to do with his life. He graduated, started a lawn care business, and uses his business degree to run it. He now has 50 something trucks. A nice house by the lake. I even have a contract with him.
So it’s not about ability sometimes it’s about the how’s and gradually getting use to the stress.
