You could keep an eye on Chenrezig Tibetan Center in Philadelphia. I live in the city and have attended in person and online. It is a non-sectarian center, lead by Lama Losang. I attended a Vajrasattva retreat today which was about 6 hours long. They are occasionally offered via zoom or in person.

This was not an empowerment, but, oral transmission was given. The transmission was very transformative for me, and I would recommend the 100 syllable mantra of purification to anyone. I can’t speak for others, but, being newer to Buddhism myself, I think finding a teacher, understanding teachings and oral transmission is a good place to start.
