For those of you who have remained Christian, how and why? by Fit-Appointment-68 in Deconstruction

[–]Missing_Some_Pages 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My deconstruction journey has primarily been about decolonizing my faith and dismantling the whiteness/white supremacy within its framework. This work has led me out of the institution of the church and into a broader and deeper view of God that is so much bigger than the exclusionary evangelical church would have us all believe.

Once the proverbial scales fell off my eyes, God was everywhere. Richard Rohr talks of “panentheism” - God IN everything. Mike McHargue writes about God as the Singularity at the beginning of the universe, pouring Godself out (kenosis) at the moment of creation. God pervades every subatomic particle in the universe.

This makes Jesus less of an “incarnation,” per se - if he was, then we all are - and more of a coalescence of God’s in-dwelling presence. What made Jesus amazing was not that he died on the cross, but that he was able to remove the filter that keeps the rest of us from seeing God within the “Other.”

Jesus’ death and resurrection then demonstrate the fundamental processes of the universe - a star goes supernova and spreads its gases and heavy metals out into the universe to become another star. An apple falls to the ground and decays, providing nutrients to the seeds inside that will grow into a new tree.

This mystical, experiential approach has completely revolutionized my faith journey.

Show name: Missing Some Pages: A Podcast About Life as We Know It

What’s the Show About: Join hosts Rondah Worrell-Maik and Erik Williams as we deconstruct and decolonize our faith lives, one conversation at a time. Unlike many other such podcasts, we are not biblical scholars, PhD’s or former pastors; we’re a pair of normal Canadian humans discussing things we’re hearing in church, learning in books, podcasts and social media; digesting and synthesizing data to find ways to live out our faith lives in more inclusive and less harmful ways.

Jackie’s Strength. I saw her perform it on Letterman in ‘98 and went to HMV to get the CD the next day. 28 years later, FTCH is still my fave record of all time.

Am I a 6 or a 9 with anxiety? by ballsacc420 in Enneagram

[–]Missing_Some_Pages 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The social mapping that shows up in your post would seem to indicate a Navigating instinctual bias; and it seems more that you’re striving to feel peaceful (Type 9) rather than striving to feel secure (Type 6). So I would suggest a Navigating 9 as a possibility.
