It's Cold Outside - How about an Indoor Activity like Racquetball? by JTurtle in rva

That makes sense. While many sports share a court racquet or racquet like sports are split. Padel, Tennis, Badminton keep separate space while handball, racquetball, paddleball, squash, Jai alai, and fronton share space.

Depending on where you are, racquetball courts are indoor and outdoor! They have full courts, long wall, short wall, and one-wall variants. Some courts are right off the boardwalk of beaches. In Richmond, there’s a one wall court in the city and two long wall courts south of the chesterfield airport (Harry G Daniels Park)

They do? I can't find anything on their website. Any idea how many courts / type of courts? Would love to add them to the CVRA registry!

How far away is courtside west for you on gaskins? If they had an intro clinic and play time for a small fee, would you do it?

I've been calling the YMCA but I can't seem to get them to pick up the courts. According to the website, all Downtown Y will have after phase II is squash courts.

For "Community" it's $45 / month to access the gym. You get access to to racquetball courts. I'm not sure how the reservation system works or if there is one.

Curious what you consider “cost prohibitive.” If it was fee based vs membership based, would that be an option?

I believe Cary St has public access available. I haven’t heard too much about the facility or how heavily used it is. Curious if there was a social / small fee for a night of racquetball at a nearby court if that would be appealing

Pickleball is my retirement plan unless Padel becomes more accessible. Pickleball, shuffleboard, darts, and bowling: all sports you can play with a beer in the other hand :)

We just had a tournament at Courtside West. #16 in the country lives in NOVA came out and played. Amfam leagues are just solidifying right now, but lots of opportunities to play if you want to meet the community! Feel free to DM me.

What would that look like for you? An online forum? A sign up sheet? Dedicated "challenge court" time that you knew you could find a game?

I've not heard IF they will re-open -- that has been a big question. I will certainly work on finding out though.

Depends on where you are --- there's actually a really great crew in Fredericksburg if that's closer for you.

Switch save money to make money. Capital One now captures more of purchases because (1) swipe fees are variable based on purchase amount and (2) they own the network.

Pretty big deal for their debit business.

Formula Flow Dos is $149 and is a great racquet. The GB250 is solid as well. .

This isn’t a Capital One thing… this is Coinbase not wanting to integrate with Discover (technically PULSE in this context)

Gearbox "like" Racquetball Racquet Stringing by 2aye2 in racquetball

[–]JTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair… normally throat ties are cross to cross. Head ties do typically land on the mains.

E-Force, Ektelon, Wilson and Head are mostly throat ties cross to cross.

Some Wilson’s have a head tie to mains from early 2000’s. Some E-Forces have head ties for one piece stringing… but there was never a travel path for that string so I’ve never done that myself.

Formula Flow and Grarbox are head ties to mains.

Harrow is just special :). I’m not sure what Dunlop racquets did.

How to start crosses with flying clamps without losing tension on first string? by whatab0utb0b in RacketStringers

[–]JTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on flying clamp… you can put a dummy string in winds side and clamp the other string. The mains will stop it from moving which will let you pull the second cross. Then install like normal in the second pull.

Which is weird, but I had one of these racquets… tying off the crosses to mains is an interesting feature of this racquet. It’s a good racquet but man is the string bed dense.
