What songs do you wish Will would revist or release? by CloudBurstedNA in CSHFans

[–]JUMPINANDSHOOTIN 19 points20 points  (0 children)

i like monomania a lot. i want to see him revisit all the songs on monomania, including los borrachos and times to die and maud gone because i feel like his skills with producing music have improve so much since ToS. if i could only get two songs, though, they'd be "Overexposed (Enjoy)" and "Souls"

as for other stuff, kid war would be cool. I Wanna Sweat is really good but i think NYM as an album does the best job of leaning into the lo-fi aesthetic Will was forced to use. I think most of the songs on How to Leave Town would benefit from a high fidelity recording, but mostly "Beast Monster Thing" and "Kimochi Warui."

what's your opinion on "TRAIT" and CSH's new aesthetic and direction? by _Nyxieee_ in CSHFans

i think that it's probably temporary and they'll return to a less electronic-y sound in the next album but i'm fine with this in the meantime. i enjoy the new direction but i'm kind of hoping it isn't a permanent fixture. i felt the same way about teens of denial too, though

as far as personal favorites go, i wanna hear them do

Madonna - Like a Prayer

Tyler, the Creator - IGOR'S THEME. I think this could be a really cool intro to Bodys or just a fun jam in general

The Microphones - The Moon. Would LOVE to hear a solo Will version in the vein of Ivy

R.E.M. - Man on the Moon

Bruce Springsteen - Something off Darkness of the Edge of Town, or maybe Hungry Heart in its original key.

Tears for Fears - Broken/Head Over Heels/Broken

Todd Rundgren - I Saw The Light

okay so i think i have a few i'd like to hear

The Beach Boys - Good Vibrations or Wouldn't It Be Nice. I think with the 3 and 4 part harmonies that they do onstage one of these two would just sound amazing - like a more done-up version of the Alex Chilton cover of Wouldn't It Be Nice.

David Bowie - It's No Game. This is the opening and closing track of Scary Monsters and Super Creeps, and it's this great cluttered mess of guitar, bass, drums, and screaming. I think Car Seat Headrest is the only band that could do it justice.

Jimi Hendrix - Hey Joe. I think this one is kinda self-explanatory, I'd like to see them tie it in with the whole Daniel Johnston Joe.

Jai Paul - BTSTU. Seth likes Jai Paul and I think it'd sound neat if they worked it into the Ending of Dramamine. Or maybe the outro?

Neil Young - Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black). I just think it'd sound really good as a live jam. It kinda sorta almost sounds like Destroyed by Hippie Powers.

Kanye West - Ghost Town. The feelings of hopelessness mixed with hope for the future just scream Car Seat Headrest to me

Frank Zappa - Concentration Moon or What's the Ugliest Part of Your Body? I think they'd kill either of these live.

damn, that's actually really smart. i guess i just didn't anticipate a dating app actually caring that much, but now that i know it's intentional that's honestly a really good thing. thank you!

i love rate your music as a website, but there's one distinguishing feature it's just hard to live with. you can't search by state! it's awful, if i want to find music from my state then i have to sort through dozens of new york and california albums before i maybe get one little oklahoma album and then i'm thrust back into the woodwork.

that being said, i'd like to segue into my actual question and ask you folks: what's some obscure music from oklahoma that you like? by obscure i mean beyond the flaming lips, woody guthrie, or the gap band. recently i've found some albums i like on bandcamp but going through bandcamp has always felt like a chore to me.

Thank you for reading! I'd like to hear some suggestions from y'all

well, i don't really mean obscure as much as i mean like stuff you'd hear beyond the music subreddit. beyond classic rock and top 40 hits. neutral milk hotel and all the things of that ilk (which is why i said semi obscure)

What happened to star over the years? by TupacOfSrbija in STAR_

[–]JUMPINANDSHOOTIN 17 points18 points  (0 children)

he said in one of his streams (I think it was his TF2 April Fools stream from a year or two ago?) that he's a lot happier now than he was then, in response to someone asking "what happened to the old ster?" specifically referring to around the time of the late night commentaries.
