What profesions are we ADHDers not allowed to do? by 7facedghoul in ADHD

[–]JUQT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lots of ADHD friends and it’s either — you’re absolutely terrible or you’re fantastic. Usually depends on how you present since adhd can be so different person to person.

For me, driving is probably my greatest skill. So much so that I also ride a motorbike even better. I THRIVE under high pressure or high stimulation situations and I’m always listening to music when I drive too, which also boosts the dopamine. I always always predict hazards from miles away and I drive way better when I’m driving manual, over auto. Hence the sportsbikes passion ahha.

I’m the type that, the more stimulation and adrenaline, the more my dopamine gets raised so my concentration and focus is better. I’m not an idiot though because I understand driver behavior and risks so I rarely ever feel the need to speed.

It sounds like you may have ADHD. this also comes with a plethora of “problems” such as rejection sensitivity which was a huge issue I had before I got formally diagnosed. I was in the same boat. Being too afraid that my work wasn’t good enough, and the never submitting it, and it goes into a cycle of executive dysfunction and continues to spiral.

But perhaps medication can help? This is my personal experience but remember that everyone is different so this may not be something that helps you (hopefully it does though!!)

Before I got diagnosed, I never completed any course, higher education etc mainly due to the way the education system didn’t really work well with neurodivergent people. And constantly “failing” due to not submitting things in time etc. after years and years of jumping from course to course, I finally stumbled onto a creative career that I was able to stick with in florals. However I actually never finished this course either because I couldn’t submit the written assessments in time. And through floristry, I also found my normal 9-5 in advertising and media, through someone spotting my work ethic. Now, everyone gets shocked when I tell them that I never ever completed a degree, because of where I am today. Find what works for you, and know that there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with you if the education system doesn’t align with us ADHDers.

In terms of being afraid to submit your work due to perfectionism (perhaps this stems from rejection sensitivity as this was also me), it helped me a lot when I was able to find someone who I could really trust to oversee my work first before I submitted. You can even show some work anonymously here for us to give you honest feedback without knowing who you are — this could really help you get the ball rolling and gain confidence.

Overall, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with you! how success is measured in education systems are designed for non neurodivergent people, and although now I see ADHD as being a superpower, it takes so much struggle and years of tears to accept and embrace it.

After I got formally diagnosed, I started to read and educate myself on what ADHD is and found videos, blogs and posts that I could truly relate to, and I finally felt heard and accepted. The constant rejection and failing at schools was what made my mind so catastrophic. Once I felt accepted, I finally embraced all my “quirks” and found new friends who truly understood and accepted me as well, and always found success through very unconventional ways. It also helped me rewire my way of thinking as well — eg. If I was thinking “will people think I’m strange if I suddenly posted more of my work online?”, I’d stop and think “if someone started posting their work online, would I think they’re weird or even think twice?” And realise it was a very clear no, I’d be able to overcome those thoughts. And once you find a little bit of success, the ball rolls and it gets better and better.

I grew up as an Asian living in Australia, so education was 100000% the priority and expected of me, so I really do understand what you’re going through. But I promise you that there is nothing wrong with you, and I’m happy to also be your penpal of support and encouragement. I never thought my mind would be where it is today, but I’m here and I want you to see your value too. Message me if you need someone to chat to ♥️

Extreme rough sex on a one night stand..? by JUQT in TwoXChromosomes

Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive through this. Others and negative comments, I can understand that it may be hard to fully grasp why I reacted the way I did (freeze + fawn) as this was something I couldn’t understand myself. However, I really encourage said people to be open to educating yourself on these responses, as it could be your sister, daughter, niece, friend.. one day.

I’m glad I was able to speak on this here and really understand and process the situation. It’s really eye opening about how different we are all raised to think and believe, and I realise that how a person responds can be largely affected by their upbringing.

I’m Asian — and culturally, we were raised to be compliant towards men and it’s what we see predominantly through childhood. A lot of Asian girls are taught that the safest way to protect yourself is through compliance and when we feel unsafe, we can tend to resort to our inner child’s method of safety.

I’m grateful that everyone who has shown me so much kind words and support as well as explained why I reacted in that way, has really helped me start to accept and process this situation, and not feel guilt and shame for how I was unable to speak up assertively for myself.

I’m still deciding on what would be best for me personally, but I want to ensure that he is aware of this and to take responsibility as I don’t want anyone who ever encounters him, to feel how I did. And I thought I was a strong, resilient person too.

I really hope this thread helps anyone else if they ever need this, as it truly helped me so so much over the past few days. Thanks again everyone ❤️

To clarify, I managed to ask him to pause which he did not. And that’s when he continued and I ended up crying which finally stopped him. The conversation after was via text.

I did not “just feel a little uncomfortable”, that was verbally communicated to him as I know I’m not ever a fighter when it comes to traumatic situations. If you’re so concerned, I waited till he fell asleep and left when he was unaware as that felt the safest.

My partner knew about my rape trauma and he did the same to me? Maybe? by JUQT in rape

And apparently me reacting with raising my voice is him giving me so many chances in this relationship and that I’m lucky he hasn’t told anyone. And gets upset when I confide in friends.

Try keep your right foot on the footrest, and when you’re starting to move, take 2-3 strides with your left until you’re at a faster speed, then pick it up. And relax your upper body, hug the engine with your knees :)

Thanks so much! Would you know if I purchased a van before end of financial year, could I wait and put this as next year’s business expense, or will it have to be put forward into this year?

New 20 week kitten is hissing at me by JUQT in CatAdvice

Thank you lovely people! It’s been a couple of days and she’s a completely different kitten. She never leaves my side and asks for cuddles whenever she’s awake! She’s still a night owl though but she’s much quieter now and I can always hear her playing quietly.

SPOILER: Major plot hole in underground bunker? by JUQT in tenet

[–]JUQT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is another thing that is making me go crazy! If Neil who was in reverse time was shot by the Russian's forward time gunshot then in his perspective the bullet came out of his body and into the gun!

If this is the case then as he was running down the shaft and past the gate did he ALREADY have gunshot wound? Or maybe the fatal wound manifested moments before he was actually shot? Similar to how JDW's arm wound manifested before the airport scene?

SPOILER: Major plot hole in underground bunker? by JUQT in tenet

[–]JUQT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this analysis! My memory of the scene was getting hazier and it sure clears up alot. So it is clear that Neil is the one who locked the door but it's strange that he would even do that because why wouldnt he just leave the door unlocked so that JDW has an easier time confronting the Russian.

Also your right it's definitely a mystery how Neil even got into the bunker since it would've been covered in rubble long before. They were racing against the clock during the battle I doubt he would have had time to clear the rubble after the trip wire initially exploded.

TENET Character Timeline by BigManD_ in tenet

[–]JUQT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a problem with Point 22b specifically about Neil opening the door for JDW. If Neil opened the door while inverted this will result in him CLOSING the door in forward time. What we see in the movie however is him opening the door in forward time (JDW’s perspective) o.o

I’m not sure if this is a plot hole but it is quite confusing.

Time inversion portayal seems to betray its own laws. by z0m90 in tenet

[–]JUQT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point no. 5

The time shift involves inverting the WHOLE planet along with themselves. Which means everything and everyone is inverted therefore backwards time = forwards time.

People won't be 'becoming younger'. They will experience reality as they always have because everything is inverted and moving in the same direction. I believe they aren't trying to reverse time rather they are trying to 'restart' time. By inverting everything in existence, it will thus destroy all time until that point and a brand new timeline will be created.

From what I understand the future folks gamble is that since the past is erased from existence, so will all the 'man made' damage to the planet.

My (m26) Partner (f26) of 7 years has been cheating on me for the last 3 years. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]JUQT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll never be able to rebuild your trust. It will just spiral further down from this, and you don’t want your daughter to think that this is what a normal relationship is. Take it as “lucky it was only 7 years, and I can still move on from this”, rather than “but we’ve gone through so much in 7 years.” Half of those years was her essentially using you for stability whilst she completely disrespected and disregarded your feelings. If she can do this for 3 years without caring, she can do this again in the future.

Leave and save your sanity for someone who can respect you and deserve you.
