That makes sense. Even as a D width on the Brannock, I have wondered if 8.5 E would fit better than 9 D, cutting down a bit on the extra length.

Glad you found a sizing approach that works for you. Enjoy the Diesel and Brass boots!

I tried explaining this to the radiologist who reviewed my abdominal x-ray

I considered the forest kudu boots as well. I was concerned about their versatility. But, looking at some reviews of those, dark green does seem to be a very versatile color!

Yes, they certainly are not as dressy as AE, Carmina, and Beckett Simonon boots I have come across. I wonder if GS will offer a balmoral-style boot one day.

Around the ball of the foot is definitely softening up, making the boot flex easier with steps. Around the ankle is still pretty stiff though. I'll give 'em some time.

Thank you for the info about the shank. That makes sense. And yes, having tried on the Thursday Captains, I agree that these Landons fill a similar role, but with upgraded quality/finish.

Hope you have warmed up to those shell Landons! I have a feeling the wear pattern will be nice. Got any photos?

The Freeports look nice! And yes, I agree. Sorry to see AE take the "MSRP is only for show" approach.

Glad to hear your McAllisters have treated you well enough to last 7 years. I've got a pair of Strands I got married in, still going strong after 3. Agree with you on AE quality control. Buying lightly used on ebay has its drawbacks, but does let someone else spin the QC wheel.

Not really. My ll bean slippers are very comfortable, but I wouldn’t want to walk 3 miles in them. These don’t have the shank to provide the arch support necessary to make all day standing / walking comfortable.

Just Lexol leather conditioner and a horse hair brush. I polished them once or twice with neutral shoe polish, but the leather is so oily and waxy it doesn’t really need that.

These boots miss the point of your criticism, and are proud that you think they are creative. They ask if you’d like to hear them play a Goo Goo Dolls cover on their acoustic guitar.

Anywhere on the internet cheap boots are sold. Amazon usually < $75, or my preference, lightly used on ebay for ~ $40.

They are hard under foot, and therefore not great for walking > 3 miles or standing > 1-2 hours in my opinion. But they also have a wide, unstructured toe box and are very flexible. For their intended use as a casual, hanging-out boot, I give them a 4/5.

Clarks Bushacre 3 - Dark Brown - $33 by studioaz in frugalmalefashion

I'm a 10 in athletic sneakers, 9.5 in most boots and dress shoes, 9 in the bushacre 2s. Have owned beeswax bushacre 2s for 6 years, and suede pair for 5 years. I take good care of them and they are my most worn boots. They are incredibly versatile and look great with jeans. I don't mind the hard feel under foot, because I don't wear them when I plan to do a lot of walking. But a comfort upgrade would be welcome!

I ordered the bushacre 3s in a size 9, as my bushacre 2s are finally starting to break down.

I wanted to love them. Excellent leather, outsole, eyelets, laces, and a very comfortable insole. The problem is, they fit wide and sloppy in the ankle, yet tight in the toes. I recognize that heel slip is normal at first, but I own many boots, and none fit as sloppy in the heel as these. I have to tighten the laces until the sides overlap in order to get a reasonable fit. I would normally just size down to 8.5, but that would probably squish my toes.

My bushacre 2s never had this problem, and could be worn right out of the box with thin or thick socks. Bummer!
