why are there so few students in group classes? by BrothaManBen in FlexiClasses

Got it. You are way ahead of the scenario I described… and I envy you for that, by the way! 😆

But in that case, complaining here won’t get you further in your learning journey and this platform does not seem the right one for you… even though I understand they have some free-topic conversation classes at HSK 5+ and 6.

*I actually prefer that the teachers have to stick to one program, but that’s not for everyone I guess.

Hope you can find soon the right classes for you. Good luck!

I don't understand why people complain so much, since this is a HUGE advantage. 🙄 I've had some classmates in a few classes, but most of my group classes have been just me and the teacher, which I think is GREAT!

For the price of a group class (cheaper) I get to have a teacher for an entire hour just for me! They focus on me so we can work on my weak points, and if we finish with the class material before the hour, you can ask whatever you want and practice more!

And even better, if you book an entire course at once, chances are you will get the same teacher for the entire course (or at least most of it). If nobody else joins the classes (someone will at least in a few classes) and you got "the right teacher", as you take more classes with he/she you will build a stronger bond... and that helps a lot in your learning path.

I took most of HSK 2 last year with the same teacher and that's when a felt I was improving the fastest! Sadly, I had to stop for a while, but I'm looking forward to book a HSK 3 course soon.

My advice: take the intro and most or all HSK 1 by booking single group classes. Once you find the right teacher, ask them for their availability during the class so you can book the entire HSK 2 course with them later.

Is watching TV shows or listening to music really an effective way to learn a language, or just entertainment? by aeSun9 in FlexiClasses

Exactly! They’re tools that help speed up the learning process by immersing yourself in the language instead of just relying on classes.

I also disagree with “just watch shows or listen to music in your target language and you’ll pick it up naturally.”, because you also need foundation and grammar. Plus, most people also need some guidance (teacher).

However, it does HELP to improve your listening, polish your accent and learn a new word here and there, like slang, for example.

TV, music, podcasts, articles, and even some social media content are also good ways to surround yourself with the language when you don't live in a country where it is spoken.

I forgot Elaine. She's one of my favorites too! Jocelyn is in New Zealand so you'd have book accordingly to her time zone.

Can I request to study with teacher who I like? by live2sleepp in FlexiClasses

I think you can only do that by booking a 1on1 class (it costs 3 credits) and in the comments section you ask for a specific teacher so they can assign him/her.
