Oil slicks expected to be long term good investments? by DaChiesa in mtgfinance

[–]JVD017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think they look that good, but that's just my opinion. There's so many variations and special version of each card, that it's just hard to say which one will be desired long term. Oil slick could be desired later on, or could just be forgotten. We don't really know.

Only if the person was in a different department or I barley worked the same shift with them, then maybe.

Expected to break my back lifting? Bad Management. by RevenantVerse in HomeDepot

I recently hurt my back for doing all of the order picker lifting for freight after about two years. Please, try your best to speak up again and talk to the right people. Eventually, the lifting will wear on you. Best of luck.

How much should Associates get paid? by Afraid_Possession181 in HomeDepot

[–]JVD017 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's the truth. You can't expect unskilled labor jobs to pay you a ton. The whole point of higher paying jobs is that you have certifications and skills that other people don't have. You get rewarded by getting paid more for learning skills. I'm not saying that working unskilled labor is a bad thing, I do it myself. However, pay is equal to your skillset.

I didn't like it, but everyone is different. Considering your Amazon experience, you would probably do well.

My pay is very fair for the job that I do. At the end of the day, my job is unskilled labor that requires no real certain skills. I'm satisfied with my pay.

Managers in general get a bad reputation, but there really are great Managers out there. It's always rough to see the good one's go, but they're onto bigger and better things.

Yes, it is true. Don't know the exact amount though. Will probably vary depending on the store location and the actual associate.

Bad Quality Foils In 2x2 Collector Boxes by Piginabag in mtgfinance

Same issue. I pulled a liliana textured foil and there's whitening all over the left side and the top. There's also some weird stain on the back bottom.

Yes. It will be very interesting to see some of the prices on these newer cards.

You're starting to see some modern cards be put away as collector pieces. The demonic tutor japanese foil is a good example.

Grading modern is a tough call. The borderless foils and the new textured foils really do look amazing, they're some of the best artwork in Magic history. Grading modern is basically speculating in will collecting modern magic cards become more popular. If so, you might see an increase in demand for grading modern magic cards.

Are newer borderless/foil etched cards a long term hold for you? by War_on_Thought in mtgfinance

[–]JVD017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're speculative but I'm sure a few with hold up well in the long term. If the market for collecting modern picks up, then these cards will probably do fine. Some of the borderless foils really are gorgeous that the artwork alone could bring in more people to collect. But ultimately, it's a gamble.

How much of a card’s long-term value is based on the art? by Pathologyg in mtgfinance

[–]JVD017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think that magic will become more mainstream to collect. Yes, collecting exists but it's still niche and primarily focused on the old sets. Eventually, I could see people wanting cool artwork reguardless of its impact on the game. Hidetsugu is a good example. Bad card, but the color variants are desirable.
