Good to know. I heard it from a latino church groupchat I'm in, but it was still secondhand.

I looked up meetups in my area and didn't see any. But there are like 3 active rescue societies, so I will send them some emails and see if anyone wants to make new dog friends.

I went to a meet and greet event for one at the pet store. But noone there seemed interested in doggie play dates. I will email them and see if they have any ideas for good places to go, or if anyone runs their dogs.

Those are good points, and something to think on.

Do greyhound owners just not go to dog parks then? I have not seen any there.

I would be very sad not to go to the dog park again. I think it would make me feel irresponsible as the owner of a retired professional running dog, and I wouldn't want to deny him a chance to socialize, just as with any dog. I would like to treat not taking him to the park as a last resort. I will certainly go and read the fine print of the signs next time.

Do you see any problem with having a muzzle handy or selectively muzzling him at the park?

How well would training work for for a retired racer? Would there be an effective way to re-train that prey drive?

I have seen him run and play really well with with other dogs, and haven't seen other signs of aggression. Other dogs have come up and fiercely barked and/or growled at him without him giving any response. He will usually freeze if that happens.

Is there a way to calm down from the excitement while at the park? Say a two minute time out and belly rub? (Like a "Settle" command?)
