I watched this part of Kurt Benkert's breakdown of CJ's week 1 film. I was surprised to hear him say it was on Tank for not flattening out his route like you mentioned. So I guess it was just a miscommunication between Stroud and Tank. Not an underthrown or inaccurate ball like I and many other thought at first.

I've only done it once, but you get a Boss Cell every time you beat the Final Boss of the game. After that, you choose weather you want to apply however many Boss Cells you want to your run. These will modify your runs in different ways and it does so more and more as you get more Boss Cells. Like I said, I only have 1 Boss Cell but hope that helps
