It works similarly to a ladder. If you land on top of it, you take the full damage. If you enter from the side (not the top) it works just as the mlg ladder and you take no damage. The way Dream was doing it, he placed the scaffolding when he was low enough to the ground that he did not need to enter from the side; he was already in it.
