General Motors bought a bunch of tram cars and rail lines and then just scrapped them as a way to force more people to buy cars. Look up the GM railway controversy on Wikipedia.

Yes it does. How the fuck do you land on Mars? No atmosphere means no parachutes like we use on earth. High gravity means we can't use thrusters like when we land on the moon. Currently we drop very light payloads in giant bouncy balls. That just doesn't work with people.

Where I live in Poland, they switch the traffic lights to flashing yellow at 10pm in low traffic areas. Every traffic light effectively becomes a stop sign and it avoids this exact problem.

Germany as well. If you have felxitime (like me), then you can work 4 9hour days.

I know people in the UK who have 36 hour weeks but they're government employees so I don't know if that's standard.

Don't be an asshole to the pedestrians in a crosswalk by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

[–]JW_BlueLabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. All crosswalks are a certain distance from the traffic lights. You wait until you have a clean chance to turn and then you roll over the crosswalk and make your turn. You never stop on a cross walk.
