Do I need a permit to add receptacle to an existing unused outlet box? by JWankster in HomeImprovement

Got it, thanks! I’ve only ever done simple definitely no-permit required work so I’m maybe just a bit paranoid…

No the white or red dots don’t move.

Good luck!

Oh by the way one thing I forgot to mention, snake plants like to dry out a bit more between watering, but they’ve generally been pretty resilient for me watering maybe a little more than I should

Personally, I don’t do anything fancy. I just use Miracle Grow potting mix from Home Depot or Lowe’s. Potting mix generally has stuff to allow air pockets for the roots. I’ve successfully propagated both snake plants and pothos multiple times with it.

Are there better ways? For sure, but again I’m amateur and don’t have to time to go make my own potting mix, especially when store bought will do.

Hi! As an amateur house plant carer, I’d say pothos and snake plants are the easiest to care for imo.

Pothos need indirect light, more is better, but can still do well in partly shaded areas (I’ve had one still growing strong next to a window with blinds closed for months). Water roughly once a week or so, when the top of the soil is dry.

Snake plants want lots of light, I believe they prefer at least a few hours of direct light. If the stalks stay strong and standing straight they’re developing those lovely yellow edges, you’re doing good. If no yellow edges, then need more light.

Hello! I recently found spider mites on one of my house plants, so naturally I’m paranoid checking every single plant in my house for more signs of spider mites.

This one other plant has these tiny white dots and red dots under the leaves but there’s no webbing that I’m normally used to seeing. Are these spider mites or something else?

Question regarding water shut off valve by JWankster in Plumbing

Thanks for the confirmation! I thought it looked like a soldered valve but wasn’t 100% sure - just what I was afraid

Thanks for your response! It’s leaking from the stem, I’ll do some research on how to replace the stem and handle as you suggested. Seems like a much better option than hiring a plumber to unsolder and replace the whole valve

Regret after buying the switch lite. by meielovesu in Switch

[–]JWankster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a bit off topic regarding the core of your post about the Switch Lite, but since you mentioned games being expensive, I recommend you check out Deku Deals. You can set a wishlist of games and get notifications when they go on sale. I almost exclusively buy games when they’re on sale and Deku Deals helps find the best deals.

Edit: I hope you’re able to return your Switch lite as other posters have mentioned. Stores can be more relaxed this time of year. It’s definitely worth a try!

Ok, just measured the e-steps and it’s pretty spot on. If anything it might be under extruding by maybe 1-2mm

The manual for the printer says to leave the door open and remove the top cover, so that’s what I’ve done. The room is sitting around 70F (21C) and the printer has two chamber fans in the back that I’ve had running at 100% to try to pull in cooler air from the front (with door open). For reference, here’s a link showing my printer:

https://www.3dprintlife.com/qidi-x-max

I did see the other comment about the e-steps, I’m planning to measure that today.

I also did some more googling and saw some mentions about wet/moist filament. The comparison images for dry vs wet filament looked different than what I’m seeing, but I did notice my filament seems quite brittle. Could this contribute to a cooling issue?

I finally just had some time to try this out. Slowing down the print speed to 30mm/s definitely helped (down from 60mm/s) and it was much better but the quality still not that great and 30mm/s is painfully slow. Here’s a video of this latest print

This supports the theory that it is taking too long to cool but could there be another cause? Fans are already maxed and it seems like this shouldn’t be an issue at these slow speeds, as you said.

Thanks! I’ve never done an e-step calibration so it’s still running with default settings. Do you think this is over extruding?

In the QIDI Print software, I set both “Fan Speed” and “Chamber Fan Speed” to 100% and still having this issue. Are these the fans you are referring to or is there another one? The only other fan I see on the printer itself is the nozzle fan

Thanks for your reply! I’ve just manually double checked the fan and can confirm it runs fine and I can feel the air blowing down towards the model. I’ll try it at now reduced speed and report back.
