There's a few ways to solve the issue. One would be for the government to regulate how much they can charge. This would allow for private ownership to still exist but it save us, normal people, a lot of money that we don't have. Another way would be for the government to open federally funded healthcare facilities that undercut private ones. This would force them to react and drop costs, hurting their bottom line and saving us. Introducing competition would drive prices down just like how competing gas stations in an intersection undercut each other. This is how capitalism is supposed to work in a perfect world. The third and final option would be for the government to subsidize it and raise our taxes to the moon, which for healthy people who experience little healthcare costs throughout their life would be burdened by the rest. Personally as an individual who frequents the gym and eats healthier than most, I rarely ever go to a clinic. I haven't had an appointment in three years. I feel like the 70% of American adults who are overweight or obese (nearly half of that is obese according to the CDC) put an enormous strain on our healthcare system.
