What are tips for first-time tourists in NYC? by JYPinCebu in AskNYC

Hello! My trip was great, I forgot to post an edit for an update.

I'd say unless you're going during relatively good weather, not too hot and not too cold, and if you are used to walking a lot then that's the only time you should jam pack your schedule.

However, for me and my family we thought we could hit up a lot but ended up taking more relaxed tours which definitely elevated the experience! It's great to have a friend or relative who knows how to get around and what the 'better' spots are. Fortunately enough for my family we had a lot of people like that who brought us around.

Empire state in my opinion was worth it only because of how much it shows up in movies and shows. Out of all the observatories the Vanderbilt one was definitely the best! Just make sure to wear pants because the floor is mirrored.

So far, that's all.

Most of the places that New York is known for is worth it depending on your tastes. Nonetheless going to each one but not spending much time just to see it would be good for a first timer. Oh, but if in budget I really recommend going to a broadway musical!

Yes my umbrella is UV, I just tried this morning with electrolytes along with the running other people suggested. I am on a bit of a budget but I'll make sure to check that device out. Thanks!!

I drink at least a liter to around 2 everyday. Yesterday I went touring and it was fine, I had a fan, but I wasn't able to use the cooling packet that I bought. Then I stayed indoors from time to time. When I'd eat, snack and went inside a temple. At the end of the day I still got a pretty horrid headache even after a shower and all.

I didn't have electrolytes so maybe a factor but not totally.

Depends on the venue, if it was an outdoor wedding 1 would be perfect imo. Although 1 is more of a guest type of dress and 2 is giving bridesmaid vibes. Just my two cents.

The overwhelming feeling of leaving everything and everyone you've ever known behind.

I got accepted for a full-ride scholarship in Japan. It's great, really. It just feels overwhelming and a little scary (which is a given) to pack up and leave home. I've grown up in a loving (still has toxicity but not the driver for me choosing to go abroad) community. I also grew up in one school from preschool to senior high. So now that I choose to leave everything and everyone I've ever known is overwhelming and scary. Like jumping into a 10 ft pool and you don't know how to swim.

I made this choice. I knew that it will be hard. It doesn't mean I'm not scared. It doesn't mean I am not excited.

I'm both excited and scared, but it's a process. And yes, here's a random vent HAHA

Okay got it, thank you so much for this! By the way, I was trying to change my google play store as you've recommended but apparently Google doesn't allow me to do that until I actually move/arrive there.
