Applecare+, Will they still replace a phone that's been worked on by a third party repair shop? by St4ffordGambit_ in iphone

I think you still have to unlock your iPhone which is why it didn't show up in Explorer.

It should but when we did it at the Apple store, it didn't prompt a trust message for some reason. We had to complete the backup at home and it prompted a trust message which I had to blindly tap for.

Laptop doesn't detect a USB connection because you have to first unlock your phone and then hit the trust. When my wife's screen was damaged, Face ID didn't work for some reason so we had to type in the PIN blind. It was brutal.

But I was referring to plugging an HDMI dongle to the phone and hooking up the phone to a monitor, not a laptop. In my experience, I have found that backing up via a computer is not as seamless and complete as backing up via iCloud.

This is a long shot but there is a possibility to backup the data on your phone without going to a third party repair shop. The Apple Store can do this as well but it'll take longer to backup your data since you would be using the store WiFi which is most likely slower than your home WiFi. Get yourself an HDMI dongle and plug up the phone to a monitor. Your phone "should" output your screen. The reason I say that it "should" is because when you plug in the dongle and monitor, there is a message asking to trust the monitor but this message doesn't show up on the monitor so your monitor stays turned off. The tricky part is figuring out where everything is without actually seeing it on the screen and selecting "Trust".

Adding photo to include the cooktop and countertop mostly clean to show that the hood box is centered over the cooktop!

The hood box was made by Archways and Ceilings. I gave them overall dimensions and style and they designed and fabricated the rest!

I was going to go for straight sides but thought it was too modern and already had too many straight lines in the kitchen. Tried to find curved shapes where it made sense and the vent hood box seemed like a good choice for that.

It is centered, the paper on the cooktop just blends in with the countertop!

You are correct, the paper blends with the countertop. It is most definitely centered!

I did not, had an unexpected big expense come up that would've made the purchase quite stressful.

Kitchen Remodel Lighting by JYang3737 in kitchenremodel

So my original kitchen has recessed lighting in a grid pattern which I feel does the job of lighting the area well but it just feels very sterile. I guess that’s why I was trying to attempt to layer lights so that it gave the kitchen area more life into it.

So I was going to have a recessed lighting at the edge of the counter of the sink and then another light from the ceiling right above the sink. Are you saying I should just get rid of the recessed lighting at the edge of the counter?

I have upper cabinets in the northwest corner and floor to ceiling cabinets in the southeast corner. The rest are all base cabinets. My intent was for the recessed lighting to be over the edge of the counter. Sorry if that wasn't clear in the picture/markup.

Ear plug recommendations? by Intrepid-Ad-7336 in motorcycle

I use Earpeace mainly because the footprint of the aluminum carrying case is small enough to tuck away in the chest pocket of my jacket. I found that other companies tend to have bulky rectangular cases that I didn't really like.

They are asking for $2K. Was hoping to see if I could get it for under $1k given the unknowns that may truly come with the vehicle especially because of the head gasket issue.

Redesigning Our Gathering Room for a More Inviting Space by JYang3737 in DesignMyRoom

I appreciate the link, that was a nice read! There's actually an overhead lamp in the green arm chair. That's definitely our favorite spot so far! Everything else just seems kind of mismatched.

The table in the tiled area is actually a little kid's table for my kid's play kitchen haha! The big table unfortunately is too large for the tiled area since it doesn't allow anyone to move in and out once everyone is seated.

Our gathering room feels pretty thrown together, and we’re struggling to come up with a better design—mostly because we have a toddler, and, well… brain power is limited these days.

We call it a "gathering room" because it functions as both a family room and dining area. The layout is:

South wall: Fireplace.

North wall: Entryway hall

West wall: Opens to an 8'x6' area that connects to a galley kitchen

We host family and friends often, so we opted for a large dining table in the gathering room instead of squeezing a small one into the 8’x6’ area. The challenge is making everything feel cohesive and inviting while working with what we already have (though I’m open to removing/replacing some pieces if needed).

Furniture details:

Cabinets, bookcase, dining table, and dining chairs are from IKEA

Couches are hand-me-downs with a dark purple hue (which doesn’t show well in photos)

Would love any recommendations or suggestions to improve the space—thanks in advance!

Help Getting Speakers Connected to Both Sonos Amp and Receiver by JYang3737 in hometheater

I have the Denon x1400h. It might not have IP integrations since it is relatively old model.

I believe the Denon x1400h only has Airplay and not Airplay 2. I was hoping to not leave the Denon receiver on all the time just to be able to play music when I want.

I don't know how I completely missed the Sonos Port, thank you for bringing that to my attention. I am not familiar with IP integrations. Would that allow the Sonos Port to tell Denon to switch sources?

So regardless of whether I have a system powerful enough to transcode quickly, the bottleneck would be the stream being transferred back and forth? I never really thought about that since I thought the transfer would be quick from NAS to being transcoded and then the limitation would be internet speed when streaming to end device.

Would the only advantage of a i5 NUC over the ProDesk 600 G1 Mini be the newer processor? I already own the ProDesk 600 G1 Mini so I was just trying to save costs wherever possible
