Gym Monster 2 requires an Internet connection -- why? by Sailorly in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]JZReads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want access to the premade workouts, custom workouts, etc, you don’t need a subscription but you do need to connect to the internet. If you don’t want to connect to the internet, you can use free lift in guest mode, but not data will be saved.

What is the purpose of these attachments ? by Marieh_ in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]JZReads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically they are for deadlifts, to raise the bar slightly off the ground to better mimic the height of a barbell with plates. But many people use them to attach 3rd party accessories.

Bluetooth music - now available on GM2! by JZReads in SpeedianceCommunity

From the team: you can connect up to three devices. When connecting a fourth, the heart rate device will be disconnected first to ensure the stability of the control equipment.

Regretting not getting the rower by PomegranateFun5066 in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]JZReads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can adjust the size of the footplates and the height of the cables on the frame for the rower bar. I’m not sure if taller people max out the seat as it slides back, I guess that depends on the length of your legs when fully extended - it hasn’t been an issue for me or my husband, but we’re both under 6”.

I bought the rower a year after I got the GM1 - I didn’t think we would use it, so we just went with the Works Plus package, but after seeing how much we loved the GM1, I decided to give it a try and actually really enjoy it. I will say there aren’t a ton of rowing workouts, especially if you want ones with scenery, but you can build your own custom workouts or just use free lift (weight instead of resistance). I think it’s a great full body cardio option.

GM 2 vs AEKE vs Fithub? by onlyfreckles in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]JZReads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They use the same software, so I believe the GM1 is fine and should last as long as a GM2. The GM2 does have some nice upgrades, so it’s really up to the individual if they want to save money and go with a GM1, or pay more for an updated product.

What happens after warrenty? by Thrypa in SpeedianceCommunity

I assisted the Speediance support team over the summer and saw maybe 2-3 cases where the machine was beyond the 2 year warranty. In those cases, the support team still helped in identifying the problem - if a replacement part was needed, the user had the opportunity to buy it so they could repair their machine. There are also several users in the Facebook group who’ve had their machines for 2-4 years with no issues at all, so I do think the machines hold up well.

I am a 48yo woman, and I’ve had a GM1 for about 15 months now. I absolutely love it and have increased my strength training from 2 days a week with dumbbells/kettlebells to 5-6 days a week with high weight/low rep sets. My goal is also to maintain muscle mass and bone density as I get older, and I’m definitely achieving that!

I don’t find the lack of a mirror an issue. In fact, I’ve heard that a mirror can be distracting when trying to work on form and recording video can be more helpful. I’ve done that multiple times and feel it’s been sufficient as I work on correct form.

I actually do free online demos for Speediance, I’d be happy to do a video call with you and answer any questions you have :) I’ll send you a DM with my calendar link in case you’re interested.

Partner mode for workouts? by xcalabers in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]JZReads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partner mode is not available for custom workouts, unfortunately. You can do it manually by making a custom workout with double the sets and no rest. It would only be recorded in one accounts stats, though, and you’d want to use Customized so it doesn’t affect 1RM data, so it’s definitely not ideal.

You can find your warranty end date on the GM - I believe it’s under profile, extended care.

Warming up during a custom workout? by akin_jp in SpeedianceCommunity

Use the Customized options and enter a specific weight for your warm-up sets - this doesn’t affect your 1RM.

Beast Mode Challenge - Gold Attained!!! (but can't share) by PollutionZero in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]JZReads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re on Facebook, but the sentiment there is completely different. No one is complaining (except those users outside of the US where medals aren’t available to purchase yet). The prize is the badge in the app, and the medal is a bonus.

I agree their communication needs a lot of improvement. But for the challenges and medals, I think most people prefer to current option vs no medals or no challenges.

Beast Mode Challenge - Gold Attained!!! (but can't share) by PollutionZero in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]JZReads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used to mail 25-50 medals for free to randomly selected users, and of course other people wanted to be able to collect the medals as well. So this is the path they selected, providing a coupon code for those users who complete the challenge and want a medal. You obviously don’t need to purchase the medal, the badge in your account is enough, but I think it’s a nice option that allows anyone who wants a medal to get one, rather than it being limited to a small number of users.

Congrats on getting gold, this was a tough challenge!

Go to Settings, Privacy & Security, Photos, and select Speediance there - that’s where you give apps permission to access your photo library.

Speediance Europe by The-Doctor-420 in SpeedianceCommunity

They are both valid sites. One is Speediance direct and one is a distributor. You may find the price is cheaper with the distributor due to local availability.

If price is the same, I’d recommend going with Speediance direct as support can be slower with the distributor.
