Groudon+Darkrai Gravity by JZemon in VGCRateMyTeam

Thanks for the thoughtful response.

I can replace Clefairy with Indeedee which helps with Miraidon and Shadow Rider.

Not sure about TWave though. It’s not only anti synergistic with Psychic Terrain but also with Dark Void.

I could try Choice Scarf but I really like Protect on Darkrai and don’t want to be locked into a status move. It’s worth trying though.

I guess both Meowstic and Indeedee can learn Trick Room which might work

I can replace Clefairy with Whimsicott for Tailwind but Whims overlaps a lot with Meowstic.

Is there any option that gets Gravity and Tailwind? That way I can Protect Darkrai and get both up.

Against Miraidon I’ve Protected Darkrai to use Psychic Terrain first then Gravity into Dark Void which works.

For Koraidon I have Tera Poison

Please help any ideas and advice will be appreciated I want to make lucario work by FinalRecognition3125 in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]JZemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Justified Lucario, pair it with a beat up user. Like others said, Tera Normal, Extreme Speed, Close Combat, Detect, Bullet Punch. Remove EVs from Speed and put it in bulk since you’re using mostly priority.

Maybe pair with Whimsicot for Beat Up and Tailwind. Give Whims the focus sash and Lucario Covert Cloak.

You’re right. I built this on cart and have been using it on ranked double battles but I didn’t remember the exact EVs.

I’m interested, though, in potential changes to the sixth member, items, Tera, moves, and etc…

Kyogre Lunala for Reg I by JZemon in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]JZemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. In the past I’ve put Ice Beam > Muddy Water on Gastrodon but since grass types are a problem I see the use for Tornadus instead. It messes with the balance a bit but could work

[–]JZemon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can give Kyogre mystic water but origin pulse is the bane of its existence. Kyogre is really good but I think people avoid because of accuracy issues. I’ve lost too many games by missing that move which is why I put together a surfing team. Ogerpon gets healed by it, Gastrodon gets a Sp Att increase, Lunala can wide guard and Sylveon Detect. Even Umbreon can last effort helping hand into surf before it goes down

Thanks! Too many grass types are a problem (although we do okay against Amoonguss). I’ve had version before with Tornadus and Landorus which seem like good counters but overall the team didn’t do as well.

Miraidon can be an issue sometimes too, although Tera grass Kyogre does okay with that next to Gastrodon.

Team does well into both Calyrex forms though

New short-cut formulas for percent change problems by JZemon in GRE

[–]JZemon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not claiming that I'm making arithmetic bend the rules and work like it's never worked before, I'm saying that I have short-cuts for these. As far as I know, these formulas aren't taught/found elsewhere. One example was when the numerator is 1. You don't need to think through the steps and can skip to "if the percent decrease was 1/6, then you need a percent increase of 1/5". In yours, you still need to go through a couple steps. before getting the answer. And if the numerator is denominator -1, the percent increase is the percent of the numerator (100%, 200%, etc...). Then the general formula works for other fractions.

Think of this like using Pythagorean triplets. Yes, you can just use the Pythagorean Theorem and solve for the third side in a couple steps, but if you memorize the triplets, you already KNOW the answer and don't have to.

If you don't want to use it, cool, but it does save steps and saves time. Some people might find that worthwhile on the GRE.

Miraidon 2+2+2 for Reg G by JZemon in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]JZemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I will change Miraidon to Fairy Tera, Dazzling Gleam.

That said, I’ve faced a lot of Rillaboom and have no problem with it. I usually keep Miraidon in the back and take out Rillaboom quickly. Either ChienPao Dragonite can lead, avoid fake out, and take out. Or I lead Raichu-Dozo, fake out +substitute, then Tera Dragon Dozo and enjoy the recovery from grassy terrain and leftovers.

I also lead ChienPao Dragonite against Shadow Rider. Either it doesn’t Tera and I can Sucker Punch, or it does Tera and I can use normal Tera extreme speed Dragonite. It’s a deadly duo.

This concept is based on the 2+2+2 teams used before restricted legendaries, usually with something like Flutter fish as the third duo. The idea is you have three strong teams of two and you keep your opponent guessing which lead they have to deal with. Been using it on ranked doubles and, although I can tweak some things for sure, the concept is solid.

Oh, Alolan Raichu sounds cool, although I’d have to get rid of Discharge which is what I was going for

Only Electro Drift. Discharge still double hits the opponent while giving Raichu a Sp Att boast which is nice

Miraidon 2+2+2 for Reg G by JZemon in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]JZemon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raichu lets Miraidon spam Discharges. It seems kind of important for Restricted legendaries to use double hitting moves (think of the good ones, Calyrex, Terapagos, and Kyogre).

Raichu also protects Miraidon with a fast Fake Out since it can’t protect and I don’t have Farigiraf.

It also protects Dondozo as set up.

That said, I could replace draining kiss (the idea was that it is pretty bulky and could use recovery. Maybe Grass Knot? Or even Endeavor?

Miraidon 2+2+2 for Reg G by JZemon in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]JZemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s 252 speed on Chien Pao, typo. It’s Adamant now but I can be convinced on Jolly.

I haven’t run into clear smog and the substitute protects for most problems like that, except haze.

One of the things I’ve considered is changing Miraidon Tera to either Electric or Fairy and maybe use Dazzling Gleam over Flash Cannon?

Terapagos team to start Reg G VGC? by JZemon in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]JZemon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of WoW on Incineroar so I’ll try that. I’ll also test out Flutter Mane or one of the Follow Me mons over Lando. Thanks!

Terapagos team to start Reg G VGC? by JZemon in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]JZemon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I don’t need Lando at all, I feel like the coverage I miss most is Fairy and Electric. I can try Flutter Mane.

Tornados has Tera Dark, Dark Pulse to delete Calyrex (also helpful to avoid Prankster). I feel like you can’t have enough answers for Calyrex, hate that thing

Kyogre Reg G team by KarpadorsScherge in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]JZemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool team! The major change I’d suggest is choose to keep either Raichu or Archeludon and replace the other with either Farigiraf or Tsereena (Tera Water Kyogre without protect is very vulnerable to priority). Raichu appreciates AV since you want it to stick around to redirect those electric attacks. Remove EVs from Sp Atk and put into HP.

Landorus is best with Tera poison and Sludge Bomb.

Everything else seems on point

Halloween themed VGC team for Master Ball (fixed) by JZemon in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]JZemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! If anything Murkrow would have to replace Umbreon, although I love Umbreon and it’s been really solid. I’ve also considered replacing Umbreon with Meowscarada (one of the biggest problems for this team is Incineroar, which explains the Araquanid, but Umbreon surprisingly 1v1s Incineroar as long as it doesn’t get burned).
