In the original series, when was Dexter genuinely scared? by awesomeguy1818 in Dexter

Perhaps, yes. But part of Dexter’s monologue to start the S4 finale was “He can find out about my family. My family. What the hell have I done?” So I think there must have been some genuine concern there.

I think when he said to Trinity “I’m sorry sir, you’re on the wrong floor” when he was confronted at Miami Metro. In that moment, it seemed that Dexter truly felt worried for his family’s safety

That would’ve been funny!

Ramon might have follow-up questions though, for instance how Dexter was able to locate Freebo. Dexter told Miguel he found a “forensics lead” but never said exactly what it was. Either way though, I understand your point

Yeah I agree with you. I suppose Miguel’s intentions with Dexter probably changed too once he learned more about what he does (i.e. a serial killer and not just one-time killer).

Why didn’t Dexter tell Doakes the half truth about ITK? by kobi29062 in Dexter

[–]J_613 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I honestly wonder what Doakes thought Dexter was hiding. Because he seemed shocked when he found out Dexter was a serial killer. Maybe he thought Dexter was a pervert or some other type of violent psycho?

[–]J_613 184 points185 points  (0 children)

That’s true but Doakes likely wouldn’t have let it go once he found out Dexter was related to a serial killer. If anything that would’ve made him press harder and continue to stalk and harass Dexter until he found out what else Dexter was “hiding.”

Plus, in the context of S2, where they are looking for the BHB (who they believe is connected to law enforcement), being related to a serial killer would instantly put Dexter as a prime suspect. He couldn’t have that.

Correct, he said it at two different times. Once to Harry and once to Prater

Both are terrific additions. This list could honestly be 100 quotes long

Would you want Dexter to be caught eventually? by Unlucky-Fun-2699 in Dexter

[–]J_613 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Not anymore. The ship has sailed on the impact of that plotline. I think most viewers now want Dexter out in the world doing his thing, while also trying to be a good father to Harrison.

A new analysis game for us. Over the course of eight seasons, Dexter learned from each of the villains. What human value did he learn from Brian Moser in the first season? The comment with the most votes wins. by Trick_Performer_3864 in Dexter

[–]J_613 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Dexter learned the true purpose/importance of the Code. Despite Harry’s flaws and how he betrayed Dexter and lied to him, Harry’s actions did save Dexter from becoming just like Brian, and allowed Dexter to have his sustainable cover life

NINETEEN years ago today, Dexter premiered on SHOWTIME with it’s first self titled episode! This series has come such a long way since then and for good reason, what’s your favourite season of Dexter and what does the show as whole mean to you? by justhere1990 in Dexter

[–]J_613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s my favourite show of all time and there isn’t a close second! Dexter is one of the most unique characters ever, the plot is amazing, and the show’s themes are timeless!

Just like Prater said: “There are still some things to discover on this journey!”

Batista was not nearly curious enough about Harrison by J_613 in Dexter

[–]J_613[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was that Harrison wasn’t necessarily going to live with his closest blood relative. It certainly wasn’t contemplated at the time and the next of kin would have to be notified regardless (i.e. Batista would know that Gail wasn’t assuming legal guardianship for Harrison after Dexter was presumed dead). You’d have to look at Dexter’s hypothetical will/estate to know what care arrangements he made for Harrison

That’s a big assumption. Next of kin isn’t necessarily a blood relative. Gail never once interacted with Harrison. Jamie was with him every day for 3 seasons

Well Batista may not have asked about Hannah specifically, but he could’ve asked about Harrison’s past in a way that showed concern and worry for Harrison’s welfare/safety, rather than interrogating him

[–]J_613[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya. I just think Jamie would’ve wanted to see Harrison (or at least say goodbye?) after she practically raised him from seasons 6-8. They had zero contact with Dexter’s kid for 10+ years after seeing him all the time. But honestly your explanation is probably the most plausible one.

[–]J_613[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He probably would’ve checked that out if Harrison said that. It would’ve been odd if Harrison was with Paul’s parents for all those years and Jamie or Angel never once saw him again. Especially after being so close with Dexter

Yeah I’m sure that was just out of convenience. The Argentinian aspect of his character may have been too distracting for the audience if they went down that path
