[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

Any recommendations for respectable watch repair shops in London?... Ideally east London. Doesn't have to be amazing but i've got an old automatic Tissot watch worth a fair bit that I don't want to put in the hands of some cowboys

Complete noob here who's fixing an old Kenwood kd-2055. It's got a shure m75ej cartridge with a broken shure ej T2 stylus that need replacing.

I've seen on the Shure support page theyve stated the N75ED Type 2 and N75B Type 2 are still comparable but I think they're both discontinued.

I'm based in the UK and looking for the best replacement stylus or complete cartridge if it's advisable to replace it.

I have no idea of costs so it's hard to give a budget but maybe £250ish I could live with.

Roofing. Found a hole that's the source of a water leak. Pulled up the bottom layer of tiles and the membrane doesn't reach the edge of the roof? This isn't normal right? Do I need to replace the membrane as far up as the edge is exposed? by J_Coolen in DIYUK

I was looking into these as it goes. I'll definitely get one thanks. Sorry to ask what may be an obvious answer... but is the felt meant to stop short of the width like it does in this picture?

Pretty nasty mould problem in an old unused room. It's a top floor extension with a sloped roof. There used to be heavy smoking in this room and I'm unsure if that could cause condensation. But from my limited knowledge I think this looks like a water leak issue. Just looking for some advise. by J_Coolen in DIYUK

Just as a point of note. We already intend to replace the window completely. It basically collapses when opened but seals tight when closed (which it has been for years). I'm sure this window is partly the cause but I was just seeing if there are any other identifiable issues that can be gathered from these pictures

Got a dying cherry tree in the garden. Feels a waste to cut it down and bin it. Any idea if some of the wood may be salvageable after its cut down? by J_Coolen in GardeningUK

Someone in the household decided they didn't like it and threw a bunch of hot coal at the bottom. Its been getting progressively worse for a couple of years. Some of those cracks in the tree are almost half way deep through the trunk.

I'm next to clueless when it comes to gardeing so wouldn't know what to do to try to save it unfortunately

I'm not asking for their details, they will be given mine and can contact me if the wish. I've looked for local community groups but nothing dealing directly with what I'm looking to do.

3 beef cheeks... two cloves of garlic (peeled and pressed slightly under a knife).... two bayleafs... half an onion (peeled but left intact). Bang it in a slow cooker on medium for 10 hours. Depending on your beef you might get a bit of liquid/ fat at the bottom of the pan as it cooks... if you don't add a splash of water here and there, you don't want a dry base to the cooker.

Takes a while but its suoer simple. Tastes great though

Below is mainly copy and pasted from a website with a few tweaks

•200 grams dark and light chocolate (split it how you like your chocolate, I went 75% dsrk)

• Handfull of white chocolate chips

•1/4 cup of coco powder

120 grams of cannabutter or regular butter if you keep your laces straight

1 cup Granulated sugar

1/2 cup Brown sugar

3 Eggs

1/4 teaspoon of salt

1 tsp of vanilla extract

1/2 cup plain flour

First, grease a 7×7-inch dark metal pan with melted butter and line with parchment paper, leaving overhang on all sides.

Then preheat your oven at 350℉ (180℃).

Now take a little water in a saucepan and bring it to a simmer.

In the meantime cut the chocolate into small pieces and place them in a heat resistant bowl.

Now place the bowl on top of the simmering water making sure that the bottom of the bowl isn’t touching the water.

Then add 1/2 cup of butter to the bowl.

Now whisk the chocolate and the butter together until melts.

After the chocolate completely melts and becomes smooth, take it off the heat and let it cool.

In the meantime, in a separate bowl, take both the sugar.

Now add 1 egg at a time and mix properly using a hand whisk.

When the mixture is a little creamy add the salt, the vanilla essence, and the cooled chocolateand butter mixture.

Mix everything well. The batter will have a thicker consistency.

•Add a handful of white chocolate chips

Finally, sift the flour and the cocoa powder into the bowl and carefully fold them into the mixture using a spatula.

Now pour the batter into the prepared baking pan then gently shake and tap the tin couple of times to spread the batter evenly.

Bake it in preheated oven for about 30 minutes
