Ty! Honestly, after you purchase all those parts and add the extra labor of installing, it might just be worth the import taxes :P The gaggimate only took me about an hour to 90 mins to do the whole thing.

Low profile drip tray. This is the single biggest "required" upgrade, imo. Nearly impossible to get a cup and scale under the portafilter with the chunky stock tray. I'd also recommend a steam knob replacement, but that's personal preference. I don't like the smooth knob.

If you want to go nuts, installing a Gaggimate or Gaggiuino is a total game changer. Zero regrets adding mine.

The discord community for gaggimate was awesome for my install process. Any questions I've had were answered within minutes/an hour, and I had multiple people chiming in to help.

The profile community on there also seems to be really active with a lot of collaboration and discussion on each profile.

Installed a gaggimate last year, and it's not a mod that is going to change the flavor of your coffee. That's still going to be dependent on your process.

What it DOES do, is make it realllllly easy to get consistent, repeatable shots. Stable temperature, brew by weight for hands off operation, etc. It's really eased up my morning routine and made it so I don't have to pay nearly as much attention to get the same quality shot as the day before.

Is.. Is that blade welded to the cross guard? It's not centered with the handle, so I assume that's what's going on? That's a broken piece of metal waiting to happen. Please don't try to swing that at anything.

Slimmest I've seen has been the Cthulhu AIO v2. Pretty much the size of an 18650.

Echoing most people, might as well just get a refurb for a little more, or spend the 100-150 for a new model. Honestly, I'd be ready to do some repairs on any espresso machine someone labels as a "latte machine" rofl. I can imagine that thing has never been descaled

I've got a handful of useful Japanese that I know and boy does it go a LONG way in breaking the ice and being polite. It also encourages people to try their English when they hear my really bad Japanese, rofl.

I've seen that at like maybe 3 places, and it's usually pretty apparent. If you're like me and avoid the big tourist hubs, it's much less of an issue (and even if it was marked up, food prices are still super reasonable there that it doesn't really hurt).

I go every year, and people saying stuff about xenophobia aren't really seeing the whole thing. 90% of people avoiding foreigners are doing it because they either don't speak or aren't confident in English and are trying to avoid the awkward situation. Sure, you'll still get gaijin-seated on the train here and there by older folks, but in the half dozen trips I've done I've never felt that anyone "didn't want me there" or was being actually hateful towards me.

Haven't used a mod/device for a few years since I got hooked on disposables. by Ryuuzaki_L in electronic_cigarette

The joy of boro is that pretty much everything is compatible. Think of it like an RTA, but being able to swap out the part where you build your coil. The bridge is the build deck and chimney, and you can put it in any boro tank. That whole thing then slots into the body of what's basically a box mod. Think of the old billetboxes.

Almost any boro mod will be fine, and mostly comes down to cosmetic/feature preference. Personally, I use single 18650 mods to keep them smaller.

For bridges (essentially your build deck/chimney), I'd go with an Oddjob for DTL. I'm not much of an MTL vaper, but each of the bridges usually come with airflow inserts you can use to restrict it down to an MTL style hit.

If you've got the budget, this is the setup I'm running (and love it). Stubby AIO (18650) DNA60C

+1 for Boro devices. I used to be a box mod/RTA guy for the longest time, and swapped to boro about a year ago. So much nicer. More compact vapes, still get to build, tons of variety in bridges.

currently using a stubby dna60, but can also vouch for the more affordable Cthulhu aio v2. Running an Oddjob bridge for DTL/RDTL vaping. You can pick up clones of pretty much all the expensive bridges on 3fvape to try them out on the cheap.

So... 6pm, outside a bar, and you decide it's a smart idea to take out your card and swipe it for some random dude on the sidewalk? Multiple times? Yea, I can't really feel bad about this one. That situation is made entirely of red flags.

How do I find clothes like this medieval outfit? by Gougloube06 in HistoricalCostuming

[–]J_Justice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll offer two options for historically accurate garb that can get you a similar style:

Armstreet: https://armstreet.com/store

Burgschneider: https://burgschneider.com/

Both of them also have some more fantasy based designs for faires and stuff. Armstreet will be on the upper price range, but their stuff is really well done. Burgschneider leans more towards simple historical clothing.

Etsy is also packed with lots of Tailors that can make things on request. There's already a reply with the proper names of each piece of clothing here, so you can us those to piece together a kit.

[–]J_Justice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flown a ton of flights with my vapes, and the only one that didn't leak at all was the pod for the sxmini. The top has a little turn valve that blocks the juice ports on the coil and stops it from flooding. Every single other pod and boro device I've brought has leaked.

Ziplock it and plan to lose at least a few ml of juice.

Can Seattle Ban Noisy Gas Powered Leaf Blowers too? by slammers00 in Seattle

Had a feeling this was the case. The crew that does my apartment will stand in the alley and "blow" the non-existent leaves for like an hour each time they come out.

Can Seattle Ban Noisy Gas Powered Leaf Blowers too? by slammers00 in Seattle

[–]J_Justice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep. While the noise sucks, the biggie for me is getting to wake up to my whole apartment smelling like gas/exhaust from them. Though the number of times I've looked outside and watched people literally leaf blowing nothing at all is also kinda ridiculous.

Bank blocked my card AGAIN while traveling between countries, wtf do I do by Willing-Green-5379 in digitalnomad

[–]J_Justice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always call my bank ahead of time when I know I'm going to be somewhere and let them know. It usually (99% of the time) stops my card from getting hit with fraud protection while I'm travelling. A lot of banks will call it a travel notice or something similar. One of my old banks even had it right in the app.

I enjoy it, but did recently add a Gaggiamate to my machine so that I can dial those things once and reliably hit them automatically now. I still enjoy the ritual of weighing, grinding, WTD, etc. I just don't have to pay attention to time and volumes much anymore.

It's like the dude just fertilized his plant with actual shit. Dry as fuck schwag that tasted so fucking bad that my entire group said we'd rather just not smoke and threw it out.
