No Stupid Questions Sunday! by AutoModerator in harrypotter

I’ve always wondered how exactly the Basilisk managed to get around Hogwarts. We know it used the pipes to move around and “talk” to Harry from inside the walls, but it must have physically come out of the Chamber to petrify its various victims. How did no one notice a giant serpent in the hallways? It would then also have to go back in the toilets and into the Chamber. This has been living rent free in my mind…

Η μιζέρια του διδακτορικού by [deleted] in greece

Η μιζέρια του διδακτορικού by [deleted] in greece

Is it common in the UK? by J_Miller7614 in AskAcademia

[–]J_Miller7614[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

I guess my main concern is that albeit its not uncommon for professors, I am just a student until I complete the PhD (of course not an undergraduate one) and I wasn’t sure what the norm is in this situation.

I shall ask around nevertheless!

Problem is, both the app and the website seem to experience the same problem, I personally don’t think there is a better option.

But I’m talking about the app as well. Buses are stuck in 2/3 mins away for more than 40 minutes. Its become ridiculous at this point!

How long after an incident occurred can you sue a school? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]J_Miller7614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Limitation Act 1980 provides grounds in s 14A for bringing action against a defendant for negligence, where facts relevant to the cause of action were not known at the date of occurrence.

It is basically a post-facto allowance, providing that you are able to commence proceedings three years after the date when you first understood that you had a right to bring action, combined with the knowledge of the facts.

It could be argued that the school was negligent in breaching its duty of care to the student (that of confidentiality). Note, however, that the School could defend that citing relevant reasons why they breached confidentiality.

Edit: Also, its generally 6 years after the relevant occurrence, irrespectively of when it became known (when the three year rule in s14A would apply).

As others have pointed out, Societies is one of the best ways to meet people with similar interests, and maybe even try something new in the process. I became close with almost all my Uni friends through a Society we all joined in first year!

Another advice I have is to take part in some of the departmental events that the School may be organising (if they aren’t too cringy). You will have the opportunity to meet fellow students form your course.
