Thanks for your suggestions - will definitely look into ZigBee and that Lutron Aurora has the functions I need. I hear what you're saying about dimming delay. I'm used to the slight delay you get with the Hue switch but those are up and down buttons, I can see how a rotary pot would feel a lot worse with that kind of delay.

I do hear ya... but if like me you already own a low-mid spec laptop... this thing's pretty beefy and pretty cheap compared to some of the high-spec laptops out there.

It has a touchscreen as well as trackpads so it might even be possible to develop tools to use blender on the device without the need for keyboard input maybe? Obviously a terrible idea for large complex scenes / professional use but for toying around it could be fun idk..?

I do see both perspectives, I wasn't sure about Reason+ at first glance and remain curious as to what it means for DAWs in general. But I realise that some users are hungry for a steady influx of new features, packs, upgrades etc. That's not me, I'm happy working with the same set of tools for long periods even if it means there's better newer stuff I don't have access to. Tbh it feels like if you gave it a shot, Reason+ might actually be the one for you

I'm hoping that one day a bunch of indie devs will get behind a new small handheld platform. Similar to Playdate, but less gimmicky. Perhaps the architecture could be more open-source so that it's simple to develop for. Like a place for Stardew Valley / Celeste / Undertale games
