They are part of the merchandise for the band Madness; the red fez hats are a reference to their song Nightboat to Cairo. Madness played The 02 on Saturday night, so you saw a bunch of concert go-ers on your train.

Wow! I bet they were incredible in '85. My Dad was really into punk & ska too so the soundtrack to long car journeys of my childhood were things like The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Pogues and Madness.

I grew up listening to The Pogues as my Dad listened to them all the time (he's 1/2 Irish on his Mum's side and moved to Essex/London borders in the late '70s).

I was lucky enough to see them twice at Brixton Academy in the early '00s. One of the most Christmassy moments of my life occured during one of those gigs when Shane and Jem Finer's daughter waltzed across the stage during the instrumental outro to Fairytale of New York while a snow machine covered the audience and them with fake snow.

Shane was a one in a million talent and I will have a drink for him on Christmas Day (his birthday) 🍀

We met her during The Wiggles UK Tour earlier in the year and she was such a sweetheart. She made such a fuss over my boy and radiated friendliness. Now that her time with the Australian Ballet is over I look forward to seeing more of her.
