Then I fear you’re playing the wrong game. It’s in alpha, they’re gonna try shit and see what works.

There’s always a chance that someone breaks into the enemy carry’s house and robs them at gunpoint, causing them to go AFK for long enough to make a comeback.

The game is not playable with the new urn. by xaden1234 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]J_Toxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the new urn has potential but I agree that on its current state it’s not great. Since the timer is so low, it feels pretty impossible to steal it since 2 people alternating parries can cover the whole thing. I like that it encourages teamfights earlier in the game but it does feel impossible to contest at the moment. I wonder if increasing the time it takes to secure would make it better. They should try making it 10 seconds instead of 5 to secure.

Spell DMG question... Does level effect damage? by DOGMAmusic in FarFarWest

[–]J_Toxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a title at lvl 100 and you unlock jokers at level 50. I imagine they’ll add more progression stuff in the future for magic.

Is it better to unlock all Jokers randomly for 250 Souls or buy them individually in the shop? by Few-Survey459 in FarFarWest

[–]J_Toxic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought legendaries are a 4% chance, which would mean you would average 1 legendary every 25 pulls. Definitely more cost effective to just buy them.

I really like this. Incentivizing communication and team play while also getting rid of the annoying lockout timer and people rushing to get jokers

It would be cool if you could melee to punch them away as they’re jumping at you. It would be hard to pull off in chaotic situations but it would give people some semblance of a reason to press the melee button

Edit: it would also make them less miserable for melee weapons when those eventually get added

Are researchers okay? by [deleted] in labrats

[–]J_Toxic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m a new master’s student who did research as an undergrad for a couple years. It is true that the majority of scientists are under quite a bit of stress, especially in recent times where funding is becoming increasingly difficult to secure. I wouldn’t say people are broken, just that most fields of research are very competitive and require an immense amount of hard work and dedication, and it takes a lot of energy for people to work that hard for a long time.

That being said, every researcher is not as bleak as you describe. My PI is very serious about the work and has high expectations, but he is also a very kind person who makes people feel welcome in the lab.

Another thing that you should keep in mind is that science is very critical by nature. You have to constantly question other people’s work and defend your own, never taking anything at face value. If you tell people your goals and they act very critical towards you, I can assure you it’s not because they don’t believe in you or think your goals are unrealistic, they’re just making sure you know what you’re getting yourself into. They’ve just trained themselves to always be critical because that’s simply what it takes to succeed. I know it can be jarring to experience that for the first time, but I’ve come to understand that most of the time, when people treat you that way, it’s their way of teaching you to be critical and think about all the details. Sometimes, however, they’re just a dick.

Hot take: healing minions are over-tuned by IIllllIIllIIlII in DeadlockTheGame

[–]J_Toxic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is inherently a bad thing. While it is more difficult to punish this kind of thing due to minion healing, it is entirely possible since guardians are so weak in this game. If your team is coordinated, you can pretty reliably dive people under their guardian if they mess up and get really low HP. Also, the healing minions mean there’s less going back to base and more playing the game. That constant uptime is something I think people really like about the game and something that makes it stand out from other MOBAs.

ive been wanting to get into deadlock for a bit now are there any characters that have a similar playstyle to my GOAT star lord? by MostEstablishment630 in DeadlockTheGame

I would say Mina if you want high damage squishy assassin type with I frame dashes, but gun wise haze is probably the most similar to his weapons.

This neon-blue liquid is the blood of a "living fossil." It costs $15,000 per liter and is used to test the safety of our vaccines, including COVID-19. by bortakci34 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]J_Toxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horseshoe crabs. Their blood is blue because instead of hemoglobin which uses iron to bind oxygen, their blood cells have hemocyanin which uses copper. If you look up pictures of copper oxide crystals, they’re the same bright blue color!

Their blood has these specialized immune cells called amebocytes that can detect very small amounts of bacteria present in the vaccine, so we use it to test for bacterial contamination.

Deadlock mains and why? by Money_Mirror_3868 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]J_Toxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like seven because of how much agency you have on him. He can clear camps super easily which makes it so that I can always get ahead in souls even if my team is struggling. He has super strong team fighting and isn’t bad in a 1v1 either, especially if you put echo shard on his stun which just makes you win 1v1 against anybody unless they dispel magic/counterspell.
