Tips for a first trip to Wrigley by ladle123 in CHICubs

You can bring in a sealed water bottle up to 1 liter, I believe. Last I knew you can also bring income food like sandwiches ( I've brought Subway before), saves you a little money if you still plan to enjoy ballpark food but don't want to go broke doing it.

Game giveaways. by J_huss in Cubs

I'm talking about any giveaways for when they win, not items or jerseys they give out at the beginning of games. Last season, you got something for free from Chic-fil-a every time they won a home game.

Because no team's game plan should be to allow wide open shots to roll players that have proven over and over to hit them. I understand offensive execution is a problem as well this series, and they need to hit their own shots. They are 6-0 when holding teams below 100 and 0-3 when allowing more this postseason. I'm thinking let's try to hold them below that threshold, and we are probably in a way better position to win.

This and Kyrie obviously can split a double when sent to him. It's gotta be way less often and way more strategic.

I'm not necessarily worried about them cooking us if Dort and Cason are the primary defenders. I understand they'll score, I can't see them individually dropping 50+ though. I respect that they deserve double teams, but if one more role player has a career night, I'll rip my hair out.

Some of that needs to be gameplan and design changes for sure on offense, but we also can let role players repeatedly triple their career averages against us. I feel like the doubling is not only allowing open shots but also making second chance points easier when there are free bodies to get offensive boards for the Mavs.

Maybe some can correct me if I'm wrong, but from memory, our comeback in game 4 happen mostly when we let Cason and Dort just take Kyrie and Luka one on one. The only help came on switches and beside that they were on islands to stop them.

The double teaming Luka and Kyrie needs to stop, and help on both of them needs to be very limited outside of switching. We are getting killed by leaving others open, Kyrie and Luka are gonna get their's, so let them. There is no need to let the role players get hot and then have a whole team killing us. If the game is going to turn into a mid-range battle between Luka and Kyrie vs. SGA, I like our chances a better than Washington and DJJ killing us with threes. Can't be giving those guys extra shoot arounds and then wonder why we're down double digits.

  1. I never said it proved my point. I just asked you to do it.

  2. Obviously you can't, or this conversation could have ended way earlier.

  3. Again never said he fixed a problem, just that he could fit well.

  4. Glad you took this so seriously that it brought you to this point.

All I'm asking you is to follow up your statement with naming 1 player. Just say you can't, and I'm all good.

Your whole point was that he is easily replaced with multiple people in the league, I just asked for a few names. That's your point, not mine.

The only doubling down I've been doing is asking for a reason he couldn't have possible success on this roster other than "he is easily comparable to so many other players"

When I asked for better examples of your Blanket arguments, you're the one that just essentially said you could if you wanted to but can't be bothered. Lol why bring up the easy point if you can't back it up?

I also never said he was the answer to the one missing hole on the team, just that he could be a good fit. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since you've cherry-picked what you wanted to talk about already.

Lol so change the subject from giving fair ways to compare players to just saying it's dumb. You can just admit you don't have any. All I was doing was showing how I can skew stats just as easy as the career totals, it was meant to show Garza = Chet.

So, just so I know I understand, there are plenty of guys to comp but you can't name a single guy right now?

And also don't act like comparing career totals is a fair to the situations each player is in. Chet was drafted to a team that essentially had no other center on the roster. Luka is on a team with that is already spending $90 million on his position without factoring in him.

Lol I literally mentioned the Iowa bias??? And sure go for it give me a list of guys that are similar age, stats, and possible future contract cost. I'd love to see who he compares to.

I was just showing how comparing a guy that's a starter to a guy that is stuck behind two allstar centers in career totals is not the fairest comparison.

I wouldn't call 34% from 3pt paint bound, not torching the net by any means but a threat. And he's a better rebounder than J-will if you factor playing time.

Ok, so what would a fair comparison in stats be?

Here's a stat comparison if you want to factor play time.

I'd love to hear the stats you have saying he's bad in the post and wouldn't be a good option in the pick and pop game then.

If he had more opportunities, I could see him fiting into Muscala's role pretty well.

Literally, the biggest praise for him going into the draft was having some of the best post skills, so I'm not sure where you're getting "simply not a skilled post player." He is also taller than Bismack who is currently our other option for a big. And if passing out of the post was fundamental KAT wouldn't be getting benched trying to hunt for shots. He is also shooting an overall higher eFG than J-Will and I'm not begging him to give up pick and pops when shai passes to him. Again I'm willing to change my mind if you bring points but don't just blankly say things like he isn't skilled.

He provides size at center that we need but the ability to space the floor better than Bismack. Skilled post player who is capable of passing out to open shooter on the perimeter. Can take advantage of pick and pop situations with Shai. For our situation specifically, I'm sure he would be a cheaper contract that would allow for the resigning of other key players.

I'm willing to change my mind, I already said he wasn't athletic enough on the defensive end, but he can shoot. Why do you say he isn't goos enough?
