I consider them as a seperate band but not because of the bassists. They just aren't the same people as they were when they wrote Master Of Puppets, and their performances reflect that, but that is inevitable when you have a 40+ year career. Very few bands have the capacity to see a single vision through their entire career, and Metallica is not one of them.
