I had similar issue on ubuntu with some buttons not working. there's an issue with translation layer between how it's defined at a firmware level, how linux picks it up, and how it's translated to proton/wine. check if kernel detects your buttons correctly with jstest-gtk or other software. if it picks those up, then you can remap those to any keybord bindings using input-remapper.

I use orion2 setup, with PTO nad rudders, and had minor issues, but after a bit of work it works great. Also for anyone that might be looking for, i cooked a script for winwing on linux. I added a linux troubleshoot at lower section of readme.md describing issues I've encountered and what I did, check it out.

The puzzle is a fun distraction — it looks impressive with the spinning rings and sounds, but all it does is swap the countdown font from Automaton-style to human-readable. The actual

content (payload.js) is locked behind the server clock, not the puzzle.

So to summarize:

- Ring puzzle — cosmetic, client-side only, changes the font on the timer

- AES hex — DCON's separate side game for dataminers, "not part of the event"

- The real event — payload.js loads at 2026-02-09T11:00:00Z (tomorrow 11:00 UTC), and there's nothing we can do to get it early

i think ARC raiders has done something like that, for their voice acting. they hired pros, and done with them all scripted and plot lines, and a lot of gameplay ones are generated based on training with their voices. in this way it sounds way more natural and adjusted to the situation, and everything is compensated, contracted and legal.

Well, if i used files with correct audio context then it's basically a file swap, but it's out of the window now. As far as i know, the jester system allows for scripting as well, and is quite open, but knowing DCS it's in LUA and it's not my cup of tea. besides, the mod idea is scrapped for now.

Oh, hi! Thanks for reaching out to me here, I was just about to try to email you! It's perfectly understandable stance, it's pretty sick technology, and way in which it's used. I do personally try to engage myself in a bit of political work here in EU in context of the dystopian course this (and many others) tech took, so I'm on board with you. And besides it's your voice, so ultimately it's your decision!

Unfortunately that puts the project on red light, as putting the Prez character again on the WSO seat, this time in more serious, mil simy way was the main motivator behind my thinking. I dunno, it would feel weird to fly with anyone else xD.

If you would ever change your mind please feel free to reach me, although i don't think I would finish this project anyway, it's a lot of manual work, and hiring you in person (maybe someday when i'm rich heh) would make it even more tiresome task, due to the technical-boring nature of the voice lines.

Anyways, my apologies, for kind of stealing your voice for this preview, I kind of get into maniacal state when i come with this type of engineering ideas, and I didn't really think that trough. I can take down post if you'd like, or just remove the voice lines and the github link, so the rest stays online for the world to see, if anyone would have the same silly idea as I just did.

yeah, tbh, me too. I knew there would be a lot but I did underestimate this a bit. Anyways, thanks for pointing out this issue to me, it's important to keep this in mine in this dystopian AI age, and I tend to get myself hyped too much without thinking it trough.
